*raises hand* ive been playing banjo jsut over a year now, ive played guitar beforhand, I got well i call it a "custom" washburn, but its really a b8 (super cheap) that ive changed/modded for music i mostly do oldtimey, or just jam/funk type stuff also i love playing the intro to eye of the tiger, or sining "Morning train" as the people on the high child can testify to
Old timey music is greaaaat!!!!!! at 1st i was learning the basics, trying to fit in to be a fast ass banjo picker but, then i was like man.....i wanna play my own style, so i tend to switch up between clawhammer, 3 finger, i as well started on guitar, i still play guitar(finger style) , i play a deering special been playin banjo for bout 5 years not solely just banjo , never really took lessons, I love playing Stealin', and this song, timber ho. hahaha i love it, my bro, i play this radiohead song called Creep as well, very eerily sounding banjo Gottttttttta love it. Anyways.......WHO ELSE PICKS?!?!?!
I got a gold tone. Been playin' for about 8 years, my own style. Someone PLEASE explain to me how to pick bluegrass, 'cause it just escapes me!!! I'm doin' sort of a clawhammer style... Playin' old time folk music and new time alternative rock. Do a mean version of 3am by matchbox 20......
i've been noodling on a Banjuitar (banjo body, guitar kneck....) its alot of fun....tone of the banjo, but the fretting of a guitar, can't go wrong.....
i taught my self as well and was told i do something close to "seger style" not that it matters but something that ive bene playign with is picking my first string like it was my 5th (timing wise) fretting it and using my thumb to play the other notes, Its kinda fun you should try it
Got one for my Xmas! even holding the thing is hard lol. Been playing the guitar but only for a couple years
i'll follow the light of the banjo , the head looks like a moon , and for stars sometimes i'll put little xmas lights inside . i've had two banjos . one i found in a squatter cabin in the winter of the oregon woods where i'd gone to weep . another one is a two-stringed long-necked bass banjo with a seashell for a bridge and it plays an old , old georgia sea island song like a dream .
Yeah.. well, my dad's been playing banjo for 25-30 years(got hooked to it after watching Deliverance), and I started a year ago, trying to play bluegrass classics like Duelling banjos, Cripple creek, Foggy mountain breakdown and Irish fiddle tunes..although it's fun, but I prefer my guitar
