Yeah, the only reason we havent had someone come in here and say "yeah I dropped out and now I'm a fuckup" is because those people are eating out of soup cans behind your local thrift store. Seriously, dropping out is a dumb idea. Dropping out to get your GED is just as bad of an idea. Who do you think a college is going to accept first, the person who has an actual high school diploma or someone who dropped out and did it the lazy way?
the lazy way? yeah right. its the smart way if its in your plan... everyone should have some sort of plan when it comes to education. a college is going to first look and see if the person has a diploma or GED. then they are going to look at the transcripts. if someone has a diploma and got a C average their whole high school career, and another person has a GED and got A-B averages on all the tests, then id say there is definitely a better chance for the person with the GED. and vise-versa. its more about transcripts, recommendations, and scholarships than diploma vs GED. personally i chose to start in community college for many reasons, but also because they accept most every one who signs up in time. the majority of people there have high school diplomas... they all could of dropped out early and got their GED and done the same exact thing they are doing now, but quicker. ... but i guess they planed on going to a state college and their plan didn't work out. personally, i planed on going to community college since my freshman year in high school, so getting my GED was the best thing for me.
Look if you hate school and want to get your GED you can but you can finish HS and get your diploma and feel accomplishment for sticking it out, I know school sucks I still got another year but if you reely want to go to a community college then get your GED. Anyways some of my friends are drop outs, dropping out, and more or less it just sucks that i dont get to see them everyday now. Good luck dude Keep Burnin'
it's actually fairly easy to make good LEGAL money without a high school diploma, people are just too lazy to do the hard work it requires. they'd rather sit in front of a computer for $10 an hour, than lay bricks for $12. to tell the truth, all you need to function in the world are the basic educational skills that you learn by 3rd grade, a calculator, and a several good years of life experience. because only a small minority of students are going to be doctors, lawyer’s, scientists etc. that's why everything else they try to teach you is pretty much trivial knowledge. i really think higer education should be optional, for those people who want to be doctors and shit, instead of mandatory.
Yes but the point of education is trying to avoid doing hard physical labour for your whole life, it's not bad at 1st, but when you've been laying bricks, painting or construction for 30 years, it gets tiring.
well, there's plenty of jobs besides laying bricks, in a few years i could be making $15+ an hour in screen printing.
Yah michigan rocks man, I live in Oakland County which is the third richest county in the United States.
Maybe if you quit the drugs you can finish school, unless the years of weed have already taken a toll on your brain. In that case, quit school and become a prostitute. Doesn't take much thinking to give a blow job.
a free education should always be used but whether you spend money on it, thats gotta go by your priorities
anybody else realize every year seems tobe the same thing? I mean in social I learn canadian/american history/american revolution. every damn year, same with integers and variables in math. along with decimals. its almost like every year they teach you the same crap so as tomake sure you dont forget it.
Im only in my spohmore year and i know exactly what you mean. Every year its the same conepts but little by little they take it to a higher level.
I think it depends upon whether or not you are advancing your curriculum.. Throughout high school there were very obvious differences as I went from Geometry to Algebra 2 to Trigonometry to Calculus. And the history changes from world history to US/Canadian/etc. history. I mean, maybe you've just been retaking the same courses over and never noticed...
if youre doing standard classes / low level stuff / youre not very good, then yeh theyre gonna reiterate a lot of stuff. but if youre doing the higher end subjects, advanced classes, then new things will come up. particularly maths. every year brought new maths concepts for the maths i did, but then i looked at the low end maths classes and it was like they were doing stuff from years before hand. thats just the way it is. anyway dropping out of school sounds like a good idea when youre in school... but to be honest, when you get out, you realise what a sweet deal you had. everyone finnishes school, theres no point forfeiting your final year just because youve grown up enough to wanna fight for yourself. in the end, there are people who can make it big when they drop out. BUT people citing these ones tend not to think that if those people HAD finnished school, they STILL could have done all the great things they did, and perhaps more. but teh many people who get accepted that extra bit more by teh fact that they finnished school, those people would be sorely disadvantaged had they not finnished school
Well, I didn't drop out. I didn't even start smoking until after I graduated anyways. I have a friend that just recently graduated, a few months early, maybe you could try to do that...
I dropped out at 17, just before my first big breakdown hit; in retrospect, it would have been unhealthy of me not to, but I really wish I hadn't. I have spent much of my adult life filling in the gaps my lack of schooling left. What StonerBill said is spot on; they really are some of the best days of you life, but yu rarelt realise that until it is too late.
after a couple weeks when "no, no" has like 100 votes we should send it to somebody important to prove most stoner's aren't drop outs
education is important.... as my grandfather said... "they cant take it away from you" just finish it you pussy....
thats a good quote. a lot of teens face teh decision of dropping out and it is almost always with two or one year to go. finnishing or dropping out follows someone their whole life and kids wanna leave to spare themselves just two years of boring schoolwork? as long as your family isnt bustin its arse for you, and you arent failing all your subjects, then it seems foolish to give it away.
