As much as i wanted to do it naturally, i ended up having a little help from a friend....

he did a couple and then we just kinda got excited and went nutts on my head and did the whole thing.........we didn't use wax though...he just kinda pulled and ripped and rolled...nothing else.

so far they look fucking INSANE if i dont have something holding them down...i mean they littlerally stick straight up, and some are almost a foot long!! I'm having a hard time getting the rolling technique down so they're really fuzzy and im getting a little discouraged...but anyways, they were "assisted" like 2 and a half days ago....

okay should i even be trying to roll them? My friend who did them had super long, amazing dreads for 5 years and he insists i roll them every every day to avoid any loose hairs....i can't get the hang of it though and it just seems like im making them even fuzzier....the way i see it, i should just let them run their natural course now...i have pretty nappy hair so im sure they'll take just fine...besides, a little loose hair doesn't bother me that much, sometimes i think it looks nice even.

im trying to let some more hair loose at the front to make some whispy bangs like i usually have...i think it'll look cuter on me like that

    anyways now im just rambling...haha

thanks for the encouragement. keep it coming :)

Yeah, personally I'd just leave them alone. If you notice a couple growing together, split them up.

    that's what i've done too.

i have two dreads that are "holding hands"! about 2 inches from my head they are joined by a knotty bit thats too much to pull/cut apart.. so i just left them. i call them two "the sisters"

Lookin very nice, mama... I agree with colorfulhippie - just leave 'em mostly alone for a bit, and they'll do their own cool thing. :) Happy locking!

it's wonderful to have compliments from dreadie mamas i admire so much [IMG]

The advice i receive is always so contradicting though...lol....i'm never sure what to do. I personally would like to leave them alone, but many people keep telling me to roll them....

what will happen if i do roll? what will happen if i dont?

My whole thing is that i wanted to do these naturally in the first place and in my mind no tremendous amount of "work" like spending hours rolling, should be envolved from now on since i just want them to kind of evolve naturally at this point....at the same time, i don't want them to walk around looking like ass! you know? :) haha

ooh i dont know! so far im just sleeping with them tucked in a wool hat and trying not to rip my head off because of the itchies

personally, i wouldn't roll. logically, to me, it sounds counter productive. i think it would loosen them rather than tighten them. i would leave them be almost completely. wash often and keep those fragile babies covered for a month :)

i will definitely have some stuff up for trade after my auctions are done as i know prolly not much of that stuff will sell. I'm desperate for a nice knitted hat too, seeing that now NONE of my tuques fit my head :(

Do you have any pics of it?
