Is it true it's bad to plug a bass in a normal guitar amp? If so, why? (I don't own a bass now but I need to know when I'll buy one) Thank you for information.
You can plug it into a regular guitar amp and it should be fine, as long as you turn down the bass setting on the amp all the way. Get too much bass flowing through it and you cna blow out a speaker.
as a once in a while thing its okay, but regular bass use in a guitar amp will wear out your speaker. I find keyboard amps work great for bass, esp older amps, they handle lots of tone and were built to last. For bigger places, you can just plug the bass directly into the PA, and dont need an amp tho. Those bass amps get heavy to lug around!
i have done it before....it definetly will wear out your speaker and it wont sound as good as thru a normal bass amp...for my band i actually just use an old keyboard amp....it sounds decent through it..
