New one inspired by a book passed my way by a similar minded soul.

    Goodbye to my I

Inside and out, my thought screams doubt-
In everything I do, every time I find a clue,
It's cast away, to the world of I don't know
So busy grasping the plot, I miss the whole show.

I try to let go, but who am I?
I cling to the earth, so how can I fly?
    I cannot fly, only cling,
To a thought, ideal, place or thing.

But the doubt is still there, screaming at me.
I wish I knew why, I wish I could see.
But I cannot see, only review,
Though I can't fight the urge to break through.

So if I cannot, then goodbye to my I.
There will be no life until I die.
So goodbye, goodbye, goodbye. F#ck I'm still here.
For the I said goodbye-it's so chaoticly clear.

If you haven't guessed by now, your question to me, in another thread, led me to your personal page, I'v e been reading through your poetry, quite impressive. I wonder if you are familiar with Pink Floyd's "Learning to Fly"? No matter how many times I hear it, it never fails to bring tears to my eyes.

Into the distance, a ribbon of black
Stretched to the point of no turning back
A flight of fancy on a windswept field
    Standing alone my senses reeled
A fatal attraction is holding me fast,
How can I escape this irresistible grasp?

Can't keep my eyes from the circling sky
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earthbound guilty guy
Ice is forming on the tips of my wings
Unheeded warnings, I thought I thought of everything
No navigator to guide my way home
Unladened, empty and turned to stone
My sole intention is learning to fly
Condition grounded but determined to try

Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earthbound guilty guy
Above the planet on a wing and a prayer,
My grubby halo, a vapour trail in the empty air,
Across the clouds I see my shadow fly
Out of the corner of my watering eye
A dream unthreatened by the morning light
Could blow this soul right through the roof of the night

There's no sensation to compare with this
Suspended animation, a state of bliss
Can't keep my mind from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earthbound guilty guy

I wish for you peace in the "I" of mind, a cessation of pain.

hmmm.....seems a bit synchronistic that you would mention my favorite song.....

i think the words were "just an earthbound misfit I". you're obviously pretty intelligent, so i appreciate your opinion. i think it's about time i find something else to write about, however. thanks for the post.
