What ever happened with going barefooted? That used to be a common thing in the 60s and 70s, especially with teenagers. Skateboarding barefoot was popular too. I hardly see anyone go barefoot in my area. It's as if people feel it's below their dignity. Now we have shoes and socks called 'barefoot shoes' and 'barefoot socks'. I got kicked out of the garden center in my town for being in bare feet on a day with pouring rain. A garden center. Jeez. .
well you can't get on the bus or eat at a restaurant in the u.s. that way. but that's the city and the u.s. bearfootn in the city is a good way to get tetnus. but out in the boonies where i grew up, and on the land up in oregon where i lived for a while, hell yes. i still go out in my own yard that way. and if i lived out in the boonies like i used to and would rather, well you gotta watch where you put your feet so you don't step on a rattlie snake, but yah, people in a lot of parts of the world do and their ain't diddly wrong with it. and if people weren't assholes with breaking beer bottles where people have to walk and crap like that. that's the main reason i don't. that and the bus and resteraunt thing, which i CAN see the need and reason for, but also that most of that need and reason wouldn't really exist if people were just a lot more considerate of each other, like once upon a time they were taught and expected of themselves to be. =^^= .../\...
I remember going barefoot as a kid, my mom told us we'd get hookworms! HAHA! I have my birkenstocks now, they are just as good as going barefoot.
Sandals aren't bad. I like to feel the earth on my feet, though. Bare feet work great for skateboarding and kayaking too. .
I never wear shoes or socks inside, and when its warm enough I go barefoot outside all the time. Mostly when I'm at home. I've never gotten hookworm...Im starting to think that they are a myth. lol
Yeah man, I went everywhere barefoot as a kid in the 70's, across town, in the woods, playing in the creek or ocean areas... unfortunately, the world is treated like a garbage dump. I wouldn't risk it with all the glass and junk everywhere, except in remote places.
When I was a kid I went barefoot so much that I would build up callouses on the bottoms of my feet so thick that I could walk a broken glass without a problem. Most children today spend so much time in the house playing video games that their feet never get the abuse ours did, so now they complain if they try to walk on hot pavement. We also spent our entire summers outdoors, today everyone has air conditioning so that means even more time spent indoors.
i didn't know it wasn't cool anymore.. i remember getting in trouble a lot as a kid for being barefoot outside.. shoes don't make sense anyways.
psfh. i hate shoes! i usually wear flip flops, but currently i've been on a shoe strike...granted i wear socks when it is cold, but no shoes..2 weeks and counting. I wear long skirts, so nobody really notices. I go to school, restaurants, even went to the mall today..not a word
It all started when stores started posting signs saying No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service. And the only reason they started doing that was for legal reasons, this way you can't sue them if you cut your foot on broken glass or anything in their store. And now parents are over protective of their children, they raise them to always wear shoes. When I was growing up you would never be caught dead wearing knee pads, elbow pads or a helmet when riding a bike. In fact, we didn't even wear shoes when riding a bike or skateboard let alone those other things. Now a days a kid can't even go outside without his mother smearing sunblock all over him.
I used to go Barefoot all the time, the freedom that the breeze to my feet and connection with the ground; especially on fresh grass, was something that I really enjoyed. At work, there are times I go barefoot (as much as I can do) and around the House / Garden I still do, though due to 'Arthritis Ankles' in Winter I have to switch to sandals. < Peace + Love ~ Save the Planet >
Barefootin, I don,t remember wereing shoes for 3 months of the year, and your mother would kick you out of the house after breakfast and tell you to not to be late for dinner, you could wounder for miles and miles, go fishing, swimming, ride your bike anywhere and there was never a fear of anything bad happening to you, and this was at the age of 5, my kids are 4 and 6, I don t let them out of the back yard, but I let them barefoot. Man have things changed.
i love being barefoot and am most of the time shoes feel cumberssome and i only wear them when i have to
I barefoot when not in a city... When I'm in a city I'd rather not step on someones loogi or a crack needle or some shit like that.
i still barefoot. it's called after i've been wearing heels at the bar and i've drank too much and then walk home with no shoes on. hehe.... thank god summer is almost here and i can have better excuses to wander the town without shoes on
you must not live on a beach....where I live, you are obviously NOT from around here if you are wearing shoes....the most shoe anyone wears are flipflops.....seriously. Barefootin is not just a way of life here, it is a state of mind
