They are coming out with the birth control pill for guys. Whats your view? should they be taking it?

I think if a woman could swallow the pill a guy can too, only doubles the chance of success

No, and I never asked a female to take BC. If if it happens, it happens, that was always my belief. I will wear condoms when requested, maybe I'm a bite 'too' careless haha Then again, I seldom have sex :p

I wouldn't personally rely on it as the only means of birth control unless I was completely certain that the person I was with would remember to take it every day....

But doubling up, me and him on it, sounds like a damn good idea. I'd still be using condoms til there was exceptional trust and we'd both been tested but yeah, I'm paranoid about getting pregnant so why not have them use it -as well- as me on the pill? Assuming of course that it's affordable.

thats what im saying, just adding up on the chances to make sure you dont get pregnat, i know im not ready. It should be affordable, they have planned parenthoods and things, they would carry it. I think its a damn good idea and im glad they finally figured something out.

Well personally I don't think its an issue of which one of the couple should be taking the pill. Both parties consent to sex so in my mind you both share an equal responsibility. However, up till recently technology restricted any pill to just the female. For me personally I would want to know alot more about a male birth control pill before I ever took it. The female pill has been out for decades now and we know of a lot of unhealthy side effects on the female pill, and this male one could be no different or it could be even worse. I probably won't try it till it has been on the market for some time and we start to see some more long term results of guys using it. For what its worth I have heard that it would only be effective for a small amount of time. That could be good or bad depending on how you look at it.

So what perscriptions are harmful, exactly? The ones that keep my sister's blood pressure from skyrocketing, or the one that keeps my dad's blood sugar from going haywire?

Hell, or the one that keeps me from getting knocked up?

Big bad evil men in suits with cigars actually come to my house every day and physically shove them down my throat.

Down with the corporations, man. Right on. </sarcasm>

I'm kinda somewhere between the last two posts. Sure, prescription medications can be necessary, and maybe it's good for younger girls to be on birth control.

However, I've never been on birth control and probably never will be. On that note, most of the women in my family have had problems with it. My mom was on it as a teen, and bled the entire time. She was hospitalized and taken off of it. In more recent years, one of my older sisters had the implants, bled the whole time, and had to have them removed from her arm. I just don't like the idea of putting fake horomones into myself, especially with my family's history, and I wouldn't ask my husband to do it, either. But again, on that note, he's my husband and we PLAN to have kids. If they come a little early, we're not too worried about it. And after the first two kids, he's getting neutered.
