I have to admit that I find people who live in the United States to be - well, if not politically unaware then certainly fascile. They seem to have a sense they are isolated from the rest of the world and that they can justify screwing up the planet by being the worlds top polluter yet they dont think that they are crapping in someonelses backyard day in day out.

I dont exactly hate Americans but I always cringe when I hear their whiney little voices - Americans talk big and do nothing - they say they are against what Bush is doing but where are riots - where is any impetus from the people to march against their government and demand they do something about pollution - THE DEBATE about climate change is over - the rest of the world will sack your government for you unless you bring it to order and demand they say something sensible on world climate change policy

Yeah A LOT of Americans are like that.. I think you know not all are though so I won't lecture you (though I usually lecture on judging individuals by a population)

A lot of us also... do care, do try to conserve energy, get the word out about things, etc... but you must understand, there does reach a point that you wonder if you're in the US- what else CAN you do? It feels hopeless at times. In this day and age protests don't really work. Something bigger is needed and a lot of us want that something bigger but need a starting point.

agree with luckystripe. Huge percentage are like that. But still many arent. Many try, feel, care...

I believe the word is "facile", fascile is not in the online dictionaries.

I think when you’re on top it’s easy to foster an acerbic 'greater than thow' attitude towards the rest of the world.

It's easy to ignore the cries from abroad, when your system of government and way of life is the model for the rest of the world.

i as an a person living on this rock known as america do not concider myself an american or believe in borders or governments of any kind and i think you are equaly foolish to believe americans are seperated from you we are all one people on one earth, however saying that, what good would riots do, america (the government) is a currupt corporation and the only way to collspse a corporation is by boycotting its products
let america crumble and fall, it cant be tore down through violence but it will fall apart through neglect

really bush has destroyed america beyond recovery anhd its just a matter of time before complete collapse and rebuildoing

It's Kind of fascist of you to think that "Americans" and I use this term loosely are apathetic towards the system of government. Remember we are a full on advocate of the form of slavery called Capitalism. So we as "Americans are in way deeper than you think. If we riot we give those on the fence the impression that the government HAS to step in. So by rioting we'll help those puppetmasters gain control. that and well, our defences would love nothing more than to turn their toys on us. as per Rumsfeilds statement of testing anti-personell weapons on the populace distinctly mentioning rioters.

Boo hoo! Every damn country in the world would love to be where America is now and they tried to get there. Americans have some pride and let people know that you are proud to be here. I am. Cry about us all you want. Are we looking out for our own interests, yep just like you. "every empire falls" is correct but remember there is always an enemey involved. I don't understand why people think that the US should be ashamed. We have helped more of the world then anyone else. Is America a perfect passifist utopia, nope but I am on its side. I sick of Americans being guilt tripped into appoligizing to the rest of the world. Other countries are not perfect passifist utopias either.

much of China's pollution comes from its burning of coal and oil, which its people burn for their survival. they also use a lot of gasoline for their ever-increasing automobile use, and their gasoline doesn't have nearly the same restrictions that the EPA places on american fuel.

A demographic is just a number. you are talking about people here. some people, like myself, do not follow that demographic and never will.
Please think before you say "all." not "all" of US citizens are like that, most are, but a few choice people aren't.
Those are the ones who still have hearts, minds and like to form their own opinions.

another foreigner bitching about America??? How typical.

I think that if the rest of the world sees America as some evil little empire then why don't THEY do something about it? Americans are living the good life, so its foolish to think that they will change their country just to help out everyone else. We're having a grand time fucking everyone over, and you're just sitting back and whining about how Americans could let this happen. Stop being a bunch of pansies and stand up for yourselves. Make the U.S. change, instead of having false hopes that it will change from the inside out.
