Have you found that sexuality prevents/hinders those in the LGBTQ community from being promoted past a certain level? Just out of grad school and applying for my first real job, I'd like to hear others' experiences with this.

I think your thread title here is misleading, its not a phrase I have heard before and I think that being the case, you may miss out on some replies that you may otherwise have got.
if you agree with me and wish to change it PM me

I'd say that you want to adopt the smart policy of 'need to know only'. Starting a serious professional career these days is a major challenge itself. You want to make sure that you are by no means your worst enemy, as they say...

Be professional, be good and excell to the best of your ability. Leave your private life, where it belongs to: into your own private world.

Once major hurdles are behind you, you may choose to give the aforementioned policy a fresh review... but not before everyone around knows that having you around makes their lives so much better and that getting into your way would be rather counterproductive.

    Enjoy the struggle...

in oklahoma you can be fired from your job for any and no reason. Most of the LGBT's don't come out to their work in fear that they will be kicked to the curb.
