Today I started working on a corn cob pipe, I have the bowl all ready, next will be the hardest part -- the stem.

Anybody have any suggestions and tips on making a stem?

Actually they're like 2 dollars tops.

I just hollowed out a branch from a fig tree. It was somewhat wet so I'm going to let it dry out for a few days before I try anything... Gives me time to keep my eyes open, too.

Sure, but theres something special in making your own. :)

Actually making the stem is easy (hollowing out a branch/stick), but the hard part is getting the stem to fit into the bowl in such a way that it will be airtight, or as airtight as can be. You'll probably have to seal it with something.

Yeah, I got it fit and everything and used glue on the outside as a sealent... it isn't completely airtight but its about as good as it will get.
