I was wondering if you guys knew if eating certain foods made you less high. Usually after I've been high for some time and I feel myself start to sober up I crave citrus fruits, usually oranges, and coffee or tea, with addition to the craving for crunchy and fast foods which usually comes first. Well the real question is if taking in certain vitamins actually decreases your high. I feel that it does, just wanted someone elses opinion and to bring actual truth to the matter.
i hear that all the time, most of the time I smoke and eat like a maniac, other times I don't and I don't notice any difference in my high.
Yeah, eating when your high makes it end quicker, even though the high is more satisfying when you eat
We need Bud Toker in here, he knows his physiology stuff. It might make a difference that after you eat your blood concentrates more in your stomach and such to aid the digestion process.
i think sometimes people can get carried away with eating that they spend half an hour eating, and then theyre less high than they were. well youd be less high anyway. but one of the reasons we get the munchies anyway is to do with lower blood glucose levels (or perhaps just percieved that way by the hypothalamus). munchies probably is not the only part of the high related to this, and thus these other aspects of the high that are related to this lower indication of blood glucose are part of what we associate with the feeling of being high.
the reason you get hungry when you smoke weed is cuase weed effects that part of your brian and just confuses that part and makes you think you are hungry...thats what i heard on some tv show that was a documentry on smoking weed lol
heres something related and interesting. some studies done on education found that hungry students were more attentive and quick to solve questions than students who had just eaten a large meal. thoughts about this include that this is related to a hunter's survival technique - when they are hungry they need food and they must be more attentive to their surrounds, and think about their problems faster so that they can solve the problem of finding food. it is possible that part of the high, the racing thoughts and feeling of excitement or increased senses can be from the same process or at least similar brain function that occurs above.
I saw this therapist once who specialized in drug abuse and he told me that when he was younger he would work answering the phones for a drug helpline. he told me that some of the most intense calls he recived were about people who ate rediulously potent weed and freak out. his best advice was to take orange juice with a ton of sugar in it. i dont know if that has to do with sugars reaction on the body or wether it just made it a little more calming in the mind.
exactly. When people are frightened for their lives, they get an adrenaline rush, which in some cases can give people the strength to lift buses, or outrun a cheetah. It's just basic human instinct
No, StonerBill wasn't talking about adrenaline; more so the level of awareness gained upon hunger, not being frightened for your life. But that's really interesting StonerBill, thanks for sharing.
The influx of blood that works to streamline digestion comes from areas around muscles that manifest the actions of the somatic nervous system. My best guess is that the sensation (pleasure?) of taste rivals that which THC offers. Upon the input of the two sensations, an equilibrium is sought after and, to facilitate as much, the recognition of the effects of THC is downplayed.
^^is that to say that the "pleasure" from sex brings your high down? oh well, i try to avoid munching out when high, i dont wanna be some fat stoner that cant run from bacon its all about moderation. besides dont you munchie guys feel sick after overfilling?
Intoxication certainly does facilitate a host of sensations. Even still, I'd say that the aggregate of those senses is a sensation in and of itself, especially given the unique degree of cerebral and visceral awareness that tends to occur.
Infinite Sky is pretty much saying that while you can appreciate/notice many different sensations while fucked up, being in that state is a sensation in itself. all the smaller feelings form one large one that is different now. man, i dont know if i´m clearing this up... whatever, haha. you know the feeling of being really hungry but you´re not in a position to eat so you wind up not feeling hungry anymore? that sometimes happens to me after smoking where not only do I NOT get the munchies, i think of food as the last thing i want to deal with. i think i tend to go through longer periods of time favoring one or the other - either always munching out or waiting as long as i can to eat something. large amounts of sugar tend to help curb other things like mushrooms, too. i know of a particular instance where it cut down a 6-7 hour trip to 3 hours total (from the onset to feeling OK again) because the person was beginning to have a bad time and wanted to end it. they drank 2 very large glasses of strong sugar water and it soon ended. oh, and nice name chocho, jajaja
