I had to call for a phone questionare when applying for a job at "The Waffle House" (a place like Denny's, and Ihop if you don't have it where you live) and at the end the person on the phone said "Thankyou *insert social security number* for your interest in Waffle House."

I kind of laughed at that idea, yet instead of referring to me as my birth name obviously they're instructed to refer to you as your govermental "Security number."

    Hrm.

I had to type it all on the phone, before I actually spoke with the person. Plus I put it on the application, but that's not how the phone employee person got it. hMmm

    that's dumb

they shouldn't be allowed to get your SSN/SIN number before you are on their payroll

I'm not sure Waffle House is that bright, overall. It's a VERY low rent Denny's.
but hey, road food is road food.

I think it's legal in Florida, because all the applications I fill out require it :|.

Oh, and I got a job at sonic anyways. F waffle house. Yay. >.> :D

Also I didn't mean this topic to be about the legalitys of SSN, before you're working, or whatever. More so about how they refer to me as an ID number, instead of my NAME .-.

This isnt a florida thing its a federal thing. You are not required to give your SSN until you fill out your papers upon date of hire.
If the application asked for it, write "upon hire" you'll be cool......
