when my family and i were traveling around alot, we often were invited back to peoples houses for dinners, showers, or what ever my travel weary family might need. So as a thanks for dinner or the stay sometimes, we would clean up the mess of the day. that to me is what rainbows do we wash our own dishes, and clean up our mess. So now that i have my own home, it is fun to see my friends and family stop by for a bit. often we see the rainbows that we love so much, and how pleasent the stay is no mess, you just dont have to ask. then there the other family where it is like, well we have a free weekend policy where you can spend two days with us but its probly time you leave. that doesnt happen very often but sometimes it does. I still have love for my family and friends but sometimes a little etiquitte goes a long way. if i was staying somewhere and the people needed some help i was there. but i was begging this kid just to come outside and be with us while i did the work, and he still didnt get it. So what would you all call the Etiquitte for staying with a friend or family for any time?

IMO Proper Etiquitte is pulling your own weight, washing your own dishes & maybe offering to wash pot, pans, ect in appreciation for the meal. If the stay is to be more than just a short visit, then helping out with regular chores & kicking in for bills if possible.

Some folks kick in & some folks don't...

How can you tell if you have a hippie for a house guest? He's still there. How can you tell if you have a Rainbow hippie for a house guest? He's still there, but the dishes are clean, and the 'fridge is full of dumpster food.

I've recently acquired a house in Knoxville.

I try to hold my own when I visit friends and it sure is nice when they do the same, but if not, oh well, I tend to clean up after everyone anyway. Rainbow etiquitte should definitely be taught to all though... but whether people actually exercise it or not depends on the person. :)

I know that when I was travelin I would always clean up after ourselves (especially my kiddo's). Its kinda cool, my little boy, last summer when we were on the road we stayed with a nice family for the night. He cleaned up and helped with dishes, not bad for a 6 yr. old.

I usually always have great stories about family that I bring home, we do end up with a fridge full of dumster food. Every now and then though you get a few people who just don't get it, a few years ago a couple of kids from Ocala came and reeked havoc on everyone. I hated to do it but I think that they were the only people that I ever asked to leave. I think that they were just there to party.

Most family really act like family.
