If you were to explain what love is in a single psuedo-scientific sentance what would it be. I think along the lines of it is the addiction to the chemicals we produce whenever a certain someone is around or when we think of that person Thats a straight jack from What the bleep but it makes sense to me. Does anyone else have a different opinion.
When not only the body, but also the mind and the soul have united in the task of connecting with, understanding and experiencing with another soul, with all their force, beauty and dedication, after having seen eternity through their minds eye Myes
i like that i've always said, its not an emotion, but a condition of being that hightens all emotions 1000 times but i know a brother named love who for the past 35 or so years has asked a few thousand people this same question every year then prints out the results and when he asked me what love was this (or something simular might not get the words exactly right) is what popped into my head love is saying i love you to all the universe and every living being with every thought, breath, action, word and intention even when your angry, or really dont like them or perhaps thats more a definition of being loving and not love itself?
Oh wow, youre talking about high high forms of love...That is the ideal and what we should be aiming for...I used to love all human beings wholly no matter what, and i will again,...it just takes so much faith and commitment, and after recent trauma and hurt both these things have diminished within me. But like i said, its temporary. I most definitely love this planet and the natural world Im finding the love between me and my boyfriend most helpful in restoring my love in al others Nice answer
wow, eagle, you have great answers for everything. i'm not totally sure how i would define "love." every day, i have a different feeling of what romantic love is. once, i used to think it was the strongest connection people could feel. love is a connection. it's like a thousand ropes have you tied to someone you love and nothing can ever break that bond. almost like you and the one you love are one entity and you've been brought into this world in two pieces and the point of life is to find the other part of you so you can be together and be one again.
Love is when you would rather be dead than think about anything bad happening to your significant other, and cant even imagine them being with anyone else.
Love is desiring the same good for someone else that you have for yourself. Thomas Aquinas said that. That may sound real pragmatic, but it can also be something very romantic. It means you would want your partner to soar to the same heights that you would want to soar to, in whatever way, and to have the same happiness, the same joy. You wouldn't want her/him to suffer in any way, as you wouldn't want it for yourself. We can love the whole human race in this way, but this love becomes heightened and intensified when it's on a familial and particularly on a romantic level, which is the highest and ultimate form of it.
I'm not sure if it's not a pointless thing to define such s thing as love... because it's different for everybody, depending on the age and principles and nationality and so many other stupid things....but the main thing is that this feeling is really worth being experienced because it has fantastic power...magic..... as for definition...lets leave that for som clever scientists))
Love is everything, it is the answer to life, the universe and everything, ever watch the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, everything got blown up, and what was left but a guy and a girl, love True Love, with a soul mate, thats 2 people walking together on their life paths
Love is quite simply lust. No one is ever truly in love. That person does not love the other person, they lust after the other person. Love is blown way out of proportion, love has gone way too materialistic. The only way someone can express love now is by buying someone the most expensive gift ever. If it was love then it wouldnt matter what was bought, it is the thought that counts. That is why no one can say that they really love someone, they just lust after them.
I beg to differ. Love and lust are 2 totally different things. I have been truly in love, it destroys all my lust. peace 42
I agree with Treadge. anyone who says love and lust are the same thing has obviously never been in love.
