What does everybody think about this? Retina scan, fingerprint and tracking device, F that. I told myself for the last 3 to 4 years this would be the point at which I go to war, when they try and force me to have ID, esp something like that, its not enforced or mandatory yet, but just wait and see. we need to take a stand on this. I think our government is gonna turn hitler and start up concentration camps for everybody not down with the new way they are bringing about which is yuppie old dudes and mowed lawns, its gonna get weird, like some weird plastic community. I am a very peaceful person, but things are getting crazy. This stuff is almost straight out of the book of revelation. I aint going to war yet, but it might be coming about.
    peace

I don't think your out of line on your thinking,
Years ago in the comics, Dick Tracy had a 2 way wrist radio.
Looking in my wallet, my drivers license has a bar code, you can scan it and get my entire driving record. I carry a Merchant Seaman's Document, issued by the Coast Guard it to has a strip on the back. What it has on it is anyones guess.
We just renewed our passports, haven't received them yet, so don't know how much they have changed from the ones we got 10 years ago.

Passports now have rfid chips in them, tracking devices.
The FBI can track your cell phone, and even when its turned off they can trigger the microphone or whatever you call it and listen in on your conversations, I learned this from a FOX news clip on youtube. Ill never own a cell phone! I dont see how anyone can

Its old news. Though it got next to no attention in any mainstream media so its not too surprising that people don't know about it.

Had heard of rfid be for, but wasn't up on all the applications. Some app's seem like a great advance.
Inventory records, patient ID and medical records available bedside via a PDA.
Sounds really great good inventory , patient ID and care records. No more horror stories about a patient getting the wrong surgery, etc....
Then after some time researching found usages of large companies uses for asset tracking ( Walmart ), People were listed under assets.
I can see it now, employee #15583-2, Smith, John Q, spent 1 hour and 36 Min's on toilet last week. Payroll dept. notified, 1 and 1/2 hrs. wage to be deducted from wages earned.
Australia is planning a nation wide "mesh" for tracking rfid's. Here in the U.S. border crossing has put the tagging of vehicles on hold because their "spy planes" can only account for 12%, they were hoping for 70%.
No worried about my cell phone. A normal call goes something like this, " Hi honey, I'm on my way home, do you need anything from the grocery store?".
Welcome to the brave new world......

The national ID doesn't scare me half as much as the homeland security act or the office of the special investigator (Ken Starr of the Clinton era).
"Warrant, we don't need no stinking warrant". Thats right, they can come in the middle of the night, kick in your door, stick a gun in you face, seize your personal records, your computer, any firearms you may have, empty your medicine cabinet and put the cuffs on you and haul your ass away.
When you ask for a lawyer to be present , you will be told it doesn't work that way.
This is a matter of homeland security. The information they received was from a confidentail informant who can't be identified.
This isn't the Si-Fi channel, this is America today. The post 9-11 world.......

    Maine rejected it.

    YES

    http://news.com.com/Maine+rejects+Real+ID+Act/2100-7348_3-6153532.html

    from above article

"Maine overwhelmingly rejected federal requirements for national identification cards on Thursday, marking the first formal state opposition to controversial legislation scheduled to go in effect for Americans next year. Both chambers of the Maine legislature approved a resolution saying the state flatly "refuses" to force its citizens to use driver's licenses that comply with digital ID standards, which were established under the 2005 Real ID Act. It asks the U.S. Congress to repeal the law."

If Maine is the trend setter

"The votes in Maine on the resolution were nonpartisan. It was approved by a 34-to-0 vote in the state Senate and by a 137-to-4 vote in the House of Representatives."

than we may be able to repel this garbage.

    Idaho does not want it:

    In fact:
34 States Align Against National I.D. Card
    http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2007/2/6/113947.shtml

    from above:
Within a week of Maine's action, lawmakers in Georgia, Wyoming, Montana, New Mexico, Vermont and Washington state also balked at Real ID. They are expected soon to pass laws or adopt resolutions declining to participate in the federal identification network.

    Am I being to optomistic?
