My lover and I are planning to take nine days off in October and go camping. We haven't decided if we want to stay in one place for the whole time, or drive around and stay at one place for a night or two and then move on. We live in Nebraska, right in the middle of the country, so just about anything's within reach for the time we'll be gone. I personally haven't done any camping outside of Nebraska. It's nice but not very scenic. Nebraska's notorious for being flat. What are your favorite places to camp? Where should we avoid going? (And if you can post links to information about campsites that would be wonderful.)
I highly recommend Canyonlands in southern Utah (any of the parks in utah really)..Smoky Mountains in TN, Olympic National Park in Washington state, Isle Royals in upper Michigan...I loved them all..... Utah is probably my favorite because its like camping on mars, and there are plenty of overhanging rocks to sleep under.
bein from the eastern side of the country,,, a couple of my favorite places to camp are from ere,,,, but fer shitz n gigglez,,, i will give them to you anywho.... sugar creek glen campground in dansville ny is a pay camp ground however, it is an awesome little place,, where a couple hilly streams come together and one of them walks up in a mile or so long glen with cascades , swimmin holes, a whirl pool etc etc,,, and is located near letchworth state park as well which is called the grand canyon of the east.... my other favorites are in georgia/ tennesee/ north carolina areas of the mtns, lots of national forest land and some very nice places along the way,,, we do this n go day hiing on parts of the AT and BMT and take along the mtn bikes for a spin as well....noontootla creek near springer mtn is an awesome lil area ,, a swingin bridge that is longest this side of missippi (265 ft.), springer mtn(AT terminus), and noontootla creek has a shit pot load of lil falls n cascades iffin ya just go searchin for them....
I have to agree with the southern utah area. I love that are, Canyonlands, Arches, and Zion is little farther away but also awesome. There is also tons of stuff in colorado. The western slop is awesome.
