My lover and I are planning to take nine days off in October and go camping. We haven't decided if we want to stay in one place for the whole time, or drive around and stay at one place for a night or two and then move on.

We live in Nebraska, right in the middle of the country, so just about anything's within reach for the time we'll be gone.

I personally haven't done any camping outside of Nebraska. It's nice but not very scenic. Nebraska's notorious for being flat.

What are your favorite places to camp? Where should we avoid going? (And if you can post links to information about campsites that would be wonderful.)

I highly recommend Canyonlands in southern Utah (any of the parks in utah really)..Smoky Mountains in TN, Olympic National Park in Washington state, Isle Royals in upper Michigan...I loved them all.....

Utah is probably my favorite because its like camping on mars, and there are plenty of overhanging rocks to sleep under.

I have to agree with the southern utah area. I love that are, Canyonlands, Arches, and Zion is little farther away but also awesome. There is also tons of stuff in colorado. The western slop is awesome.
