I dunno-- I am ill-prepared to go into detail as I responded with what immediately comes to mind. I know little of nomads but would be more than happy to contribute to a stereotype.

The word "nomad" brings to mind the classic Chevy station wagon so I guess the nomad's wardrobe would consist of used car paint.

Well gypsies and nomads don't have a social agenda.

If the Prez wants to bomb Baghdad back into the stone age, the gypsies and nomads living in the region would basically say fuck it, I'm out of here. Just don't drop the bombs until we're clear.

The hippies would demomstrate by picketing the white house, and painting peace symbols on the side of their van [IMG]

    Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves

I was born in the wagon of a travelin’ show
My mama used to dance for the money they’d throw
Papa would do whatever he could
    Preach a little gospel
Sell a couple bottles of doctor good

    Chorus:
    Gypsies, tramps and thieves
We’d hear it from the people of the town
They’d call us gypsies, tramps and thieves
But every night all the men would come around
    And lay their money down

Picked up a boy just south of mobile
Gave him a ride, filled him with a hot meal
I was sixteen, he was twenty-one
    Rode with us to memphis
And papa woulda shot him if he knew what he’d done

    Chorus

I never had schoolin’ but he taught me well
    With his smooth southern style
Three months later, I’m a gal in trouble
And I haven’t seen him for a while
    I haven’t seen him for a while

She was born in the wagon of a travelin’ show
Her mama had to dance for the money they’d throw
    Grandpa’d do whatever he could
    Preach a little gospel
Sell a couple bottles of doctor good

well then according to that song I can't be a gypsy,
a customer at work was trying to figure out which label to give me.

I'd go with the label "Female" or "woman", even though that one doesn't always work...

So tell him to label you as "human".

true Rubin, we're all humans. But yeah know maybe I am part nomad as I do have a habit lately of relocating quite a bit & picking up new jobs where ever I happen to be. At least I was smart enough to already have a job lined up before I make the next move to the Grand Canyon.

cattle is a succinct answer, but not an entirely accurate one. gypsy is a prticular set of customs, even with a particular language of its own. nomad is a form of tribal cultures tied to cattle rather then a particular sacred place or ground.

hippie is a term coined by corporate media in the late 60s to ridicule and belittle consciencously libral, egalitarian, and pro-peace, mostly young people, and their leaders.
(and which of course, as we've grown older, many of us have come to wear proudly!)
