I feel kind of left outside of the Hippie forums now, and I have a suggestion. What about changing the name of the Old Hippies forum, to the Hippie forum?
If 'old' doesn't offends anyone, I think it suits perfectly well. Otherwise it would be first hippies, authentic hippies, real, true or cult hippies, leftover hippies, original hippies and what not.
Names are meaningless. What matters is the quality of the content, contained within. Try working on that first. Bye.
i think "spiddle hippies" would be a good name since alot of us are getting really old and have spiddle in our beards all the time
I think Old Hippie is fine, as hippieness comes from the soul. You have to have a old soul to be a hippy, or you would have belived everything they taught you in school!
A few years back I had to go to the mall (my eye doctor's office is there), and I had to park a long way from the doors. I was in my late 40's, long hair, beard, jeans, you get the idea. Suddenly I hear someone yell "Get a job, you goddamned old hippy!". Man, I was burning inside as I looked around and finally saw the guy who yelled sitting on the curb. He was in his mid-60's, long white hair and a long white beard, Rasta tam, sleeveless denim vest half-covered with badges and such, and - he's grinnin' like a fool. Made my day, and I'm grinning just remembering it. You can call me an old hippy any day.
Gaston, that is a great story!!! Yeah, "old hippy" is a good thing to be... I like "freak" too...but, "old hippy" seems to really fit the bill, at least for me...
