Nick Drake - Bryter Layter Boris - Akuma No Uta You would think that a band who would pay tribute to another artists album cover, would mean that the music would sound similar. obvious not Nick Drake is a folksy singer/songwriter or the late 60's. Boris are a death metal/drone group from japan. The Boris album is actually pretty damn good i must say. First song is a droner, which blends into the next track which is supersonic, massively fuzzy metal. the next track is about the same. Then the next song starts off as something you might hear in "godspeed you black emperor!". Then goes into a bit of a metal sounding guitar, to trippy krautrock like stuff. Kind of reminds me a bit from Cans "Yoo Doo Right". Last songs are more metal and more drone. and this is just an EP, and its 39 minutes long a surprise to say the least its no nick drake, but its definitly good metalish type music
Yeah, I saw Boris live, with Sunn0))). Great show They're not making death metal though. Haha, I hadn't noticed one of their albumcovers was inspired by one of Nick Drake's. You're right, most of the time if an albumcover is used/inspired by another the music is inspired by it as well. Can't hear any Nick Drake influences in Boris' music
