Alright, I know it's not a garden but I thought I'd try my question here. I received a chia pet for Christmas. I followed the directions but it looks really odd. I am beginning to think they use a different herb on the pictures. I did have a problem with clumping but the seeds were so sticky I didn't know how to fix it. Does anyone else have one of these? Any suggestions?

How about posting a picture of your Chia I'd enjoy seeing it. If your seed clumped you may well have problems.

i dont know if chia pets actually have chia growing on them, but i know that chia seed gets gelatanous blobs around the seed when they get wet for a while, and that might make it clump up.

an interesting but but probably unhelpful fact is that basil seed does that too, and sometimes you can find bottled drinks that have the seeds in them.

if your pet is messed up, you might be able to get more chia seed from a health food store, its also a highly nutritious food!
