I would have to say Burton Cummings AY!

Especially during the time he made his Woman Love album. I think it is on that album that he did a version of, “you ain’t seen nothing yet”. If so that song doesn’t count.

Jerry Garcia's voice sweeps me away. I love Bob Weir's as well. Though not the best, one of my favorite singers is John Popper of Blues Traveler - oh and Brendan Bayliss too.

Janis is amazing... Mercury, Paul Rogers, Steven Tyler can wail.

I think the best, though, was Robert Plant. The guy just brings the heat like no one else... so much power, huge range, so much emotion.

Robert Plant - Since I've Been Loving You or Baby Come On Home... doesn't get any better

there is this one part on Greasy Heart of of Crown of Creation by Jefferson Airplane that gets me everytime. when Grace sings "Woman with a Greasy Heart" when she sings "heart" the tone over her voice is pure beauty.
She's one great vocalist. along with Plant. and i'd say Gilmour, listen to the harmonies he does(ie dark side), thats all him no help what so ever.

janis and plant are going to be hard to top

ian astbury has always had good vocals, and I dig grace even tho she tends to use a monotone alot.

Sandy Denny had one of the most beautiful voices ever, heard as the female voice on Zeps Battle of Evermore, but isnt really a "rock" singer

Yeah definitely her, Clare Torry(just looked it up). it was great gig that was the vocal solo but she also does some background on us and them, i think.

McCartney is also a good vocalist. he doesn't have the power or range of some of the others here but he has a good clean tone that sounds great. i wouldn't mind if i could sing like that ( i cant sing at all...)

How about the computer that generates the voices of Britney Spears and so many other pop singers.

That computer does not only have a wide variety of tones, it can also do so many different voices!
