Hey everyone. I just figured I'd share with you an idea I had this weekend. I wanted fabric to make some dresses, but I'm on a budget.
I went to my local thrift store and went into the section where they have sheets, table clothes, and other various linens. I got a ton of really cute fabric for sewing for only 7 dollars! 3 different fabrics, huge pieces. And I'm recycling.
Check out your local thrift store! :)

I love to go to thrift stores. I have found some really nice things. Last year, I found several really big pieces of fabric for a quarter each. I love it when that happens. :)

The last few times I have checked out the fabric at the thrift store I came home with over 10 yards of awesome vintage fabric for less that 5 bucks! I love when I can find a huge piece of vintage cord!!

I love that! I haven't had much luck lately, but then again, I haven't had much time to look. I went with my grandmother & my aunt yesterday, but I only came home with a couple of shirts and some old patterns. No fabric :(

I've had good luck with eBay and yahoo auctions every now and then. A lot of the fabric is overpriced, but every now and then I score some super-nice corduroy or vintagey fabric!

HAHA so Im not the only one who buys or just recycles in general out there:) I go to thrift or second hand shops all the time. I just bought some awesome old skool cords the other day and a cord skirt and am on my way to "reconstructing" the skirt to fit me. I paid less than a dollar for that and a few weird picture books I am going to use for my decoupage. Anyone ever try that out? I have found many cord items over the years and use them to do patchwork pants, pocketbooks, apron tops u name it.

If you guys are interested check out ur local freecycle on yahoo groups. Theres an awesome way to find stuff and put use to the stuff u dont use anymore. Go to www.freecycle.org and type in ur area or to go www.sharingisgiving.org thats a cool site to find stuff on too.

I have also found a lot of cool ideas on www.craftster.org People often sell stuff on there too. All of the sites are a lot better than ebay guys.

Thrift stores are fantastic for that sort of thing.

The thrifties around where I live, I've a hard time finding raw materials like fabric and balls of yarn, although I have found retro-printed linens and some sweaters I can pull apart and recycle into new things.

our thrift stores are great, 2 of them offer fill a bag with clothes for $4, but I'm usually so broke, I can't afford to go.
