And everyone that ever comes over ALWAYS calls first and a little after midnight your doorbell rang, would you answer it?
Hell no! I am super super paranoid about stuff like that. I would get my fireplace poker or butcher knife ready.
About three minutes ago my doorbell rang. I can't see out the window (I know from experience, I didn't walk over there for fear of being seen) and there is no peep hole in the door. I went and got my cell phone and a baseball bat and have just been sitting here. But it only rang once minutes ago. Has me a bit freaked out though.
Man, I am freaked out for you. I remember this one time when I was in high school and I was home alone and the doorbell rang and I went and answered it without thinking and it was some guy and he tried to sell me detergent. It was like 8 pm... it was weird.
Detergent? What kind? Pressed Rat, that made me laugh. Well you should have just said something and I would have answered. Haha. Well it hasn't rang again. I've been remembering months ago when daysye was staying with me, the doorbell rang late at night and I was less freaked out since I wasn't alone and we answered it. It was some neighbors I never met that had went out to buy cigarettes and locked themselves out of their apartment and wanted to use the phone here. Maybe it was something like that. I wasn't about to answer though. Everyone that comes over here calls first and wouldn't just drop by at midnight without calling.
it depends on where i lived...most likely i'd watch out but i really don't care...i'd just answer it..haven't been raped or murdered yet :hysterica *insert thumbs up smilie*
It was Sunshine Detergent or something like that. I think he was just on drugs. If it was someone with bad intentions at your door, they would have busted in by now... so I am sure you are safe.
Well If I looked like Britney Spears trying to look like Demi Moore in G I Jane, I'd answer the door figuring I'd scare away any would-be rapist Hotwater
I would not answer it, but I'm paranoid like that. I would have probably called someone on my house phone, and had 9-1-1 dialed into my cell phone with my finger on the call button in case anyone broke down the door. I hate being home by myself.
Well, you were probably never robbed with a similar situation in the past (someone ringing the doorbell at night to get in)- if it weren't for that, I probably wouldn't think of bad things either.
I was raised extremely paranoid, we used to avoid people we didn't know at the door by crawling on the floor so they couldn't see us inside and stayed silent until they left. No...I'm not even close to joking, I was a very sheltered child. So, I'm almost afraid of my own shadow. There's a peephole in the door at my parents' house, and at our house, there's a window in the door, so it's easy to see out. I don't think I could handle the idea of living somewhere without someway of seeing out on the porch. I'm a major chicken, and I'm terrified of the idea of someone invading my home. :-S So, in response to your question, if I was alone, they better announce who they are, or they are not getting through my front door.
i was raised really paranoid too but i just would like to believe the best in people, and i believe that everything happens for a reason and so whats the point in living in fear of what might happen...
I still think you girls could reverse the whole fear factor thing by pulling a Britney Spears, and frightning away any potential threat. Hotwater
I'd answer it then again, only about half the time do people call before coming over, if that. And a couple of my mom's friends work the night shift, 3pm to midnight (or 2am if they're doing overtime)... night owls. I do rather wish you could see who was at the door before opening it though. We have a window in our door but it's so high up that I can only see them if they're nearly six feet tall - so I can see my mom's friends who are all tall but if it's kids selling candy or somesuch I can't see 'em.
Heck no would I answer the door! I mean really, I don't even answer the front door during the day, well, unless I reconize who it is (I spy out the side windows) or it's UPS...I normally only answer the back door because the only people that use the back door are family and friends. People who use the front door are usually neither, and yeah, it makes me nervous to answer the front door when I'm here by myself. You just never know this day in age.
I'd probably just ask who is it... Only because I'm aware that my front door won't stop anyone who really wants in...But, I'd also grab a weapon, I keep some by the front door... A bit of paranoia can be healthy.
