I've always thought that their beers were really overrated for a craft brewery. But if I had to pick a favorite from them, it would probably be their Feast of Fools, followed by their Blind Faith.
Hmmm, haven't tried feast of fools, I do enjoy their Blind Faith though. In my opinion though - their #9 is the worst craft beer ever made. Oddly enough, had they not produced that beer, which they were going to scrap initially, they would have gone out of business - true story.
How interesting! I was actually gonna say that is my favorite, but of course, i just discovered magic hat, and #9 is all I have had. Now I can try something different. If that's my favorite, I can't wait to try the others!
In general I'm just not a fan of 'fruity' beers. Plenty of people like it though - like I said, they would have gone out of business had it not been for that beer.
Magic Hat #9 seems to be pretty big amongst college kids who have a slightly better taste in beer than the hardcore, swill-drinking binger crowd. It's become almost a trendy beer, it seems. It seems to be more popular amongst women, too, which doesn't surprise me, being a fruit beer. I think their beers are so popular (especially the #9) because they are slightly better than average, yet still very accessible and fairly tame, appealing more to the novice beer drinker than the connaisseur. Plus, most of their beers are very affordable. I agree with your feelings on the #9, Ryan. That is a very cloying beer, but as you said, it is their most popular. There are a lot of people who think that any beer is good as long as it's fruity, sweet and easy to drink. There are some great fruit beers out there, though, like Belgium's Lindeman's Kriek and Dogfish Head's Aprihop.
I grew up with Magic Hat in NH I'd have to say my top 3 are: 1. Fat Angel 2. #9 3. Jinx Got a huge collection of bottle caps too.
