Soaring eagle that bit you said about letting the drums play THROUGH you was so beautiful would you mind if I put it on my myspace page and I'll give you credit for it if you want?

Hand drums are harder to play then they look (play well that is). I've heard many people, at circles, gatherings, lots, etc, that were not too good at it. It can takes years of practice to play really well.

Double pedal rudiment can be tricky sometimes. I've lost it a couple of times in gigs and had to get back into sync as quickly as possible.

I took some lessons (drum kit) when I was twelve and I'm glad I did even though I cannot really call myself a professional drummer. Because it developed my sense of rhythm to the point where it helped me in learning to play both nonpercussive instruments (guitar and piano) as well as percussive instruments like the gongs of the southern Philippines.

One thing I've noticed about first-time guitarists and pianists is that they lack this sense of rhythm which is so important in playing. Even learning just a tiny bit of drums can help any aspiring musician no matter what instrument he's studying.

I play the drums sometimes for fun but only blues and jazz drumming, I can't do anything else.

Dude my hair used to be as long as yours until 3 days ago when I had 6 inches off. I'm telling ya, it's well worth doing. Tidies it up no end, keeps you free of split ends and takes less time to dry!

I play the Djembe drum, only for religious ceremonies.
I'm not into the drum circle thing.

my djembe is "top of the line" and cost me $200.

a good wooden djembe should run less than $100 at a music fest. $50-70 sounds right. bongos are real cheap, try ebay, $35 sounds right.

I've been playing drums since I was 8 dude.

They are violent love in a beautifully artsitic tempo.
Mastering percussion has been a second heartbeat for me many times, and probably will continue to be for the rest of my life.
I love my bass, I love my guitar, and I LOVE my DRUMS...
