what age do you think is ok to let your lil one be in the other room watching tv or playing while your doing what ever (taking a shower, doing laundry,cleaning the kitchen etc.) aiden seems to be perfectly fine when i turn on elmo or veggie tales or whatever tv show that i allow him to watch is on(wonder pets,calliou,sesame street,backyardigans). so i have been taking showers more than twice a week and getting some packing done i just feel horrible for sitting him infront of the tv so that i could take a shower or so i can clean. what are your thoughts??????
I think the age would all depened on the kid but don't feel bad, I was left alone a whole shitload as a kid and I feel it's a big part of the reason I am so independant I also think it's dumb to really censor what your kids watch (I can understand a lil, but don't get too bad with it) you don't want your kid to turn into one of them whiny ass brats that can't do anything without their mommy, you have to give them some alone time and you don't want them to become to sheltered and unready/blind to the bad sides of life
I don't think that anything is wrong with it. I mean, it's not like he's a couch potato. I can understand why you're feeling this way. I feel awful if I even sit down with leane and watch TV for a bit. Don't know why...I just do. But if he's just fine with it, and you're able to get some other things done, I don't think that there's anything wrong with it at all. TV is not the monster a lot of people make it out to be. There's a lot of educational shows out there that I find are fun to watch, and I really like the singing ones where we can dance around. Plus, it's a lot cheaper than those kids vidoes that are for sale.
Hey, I know how you feel. I think we all do. You deserve and need a shower and as long as he's safe it's ok. TV is a mixed situation, it's like we know it's crap and wish they weren't watching it but we have to take a shower, or go to the bathroom, or whatever. DOn't beat yourself up about it.
My daughter is two and she likes to be by me alot. So If I need to get something done without her like take a shower I just pop in an Elmo video and I she leaves me alone. I dont think its bad as long as the video is educational.
