Kids today think they have it harsh because they can't wear shirts that promote drugs ect. Well I remember when my school didn't allow jeans & that was in the early 70's!

What sort of dress codes did your school have & when did you go to school?

I was in school in the 70's...at first, (junior high) jeans weren't allowed, girls had to wear skirts down to the knee (boring...), guys could wear regular pants, but not denim. Then, when I hit 10th grade, the hippie era took over, and we were allowed to wear jeans, mini-skirts, pretty much anything but shorts and sandals (had to wear full shoes). School was much more fun then...

I went to school from '88-'99.. I had to wear dress trousers, shirt and a black plain jumper. In secondary school I was supposed to wear a tie too, but I never did.

Looking back to middle school I recall from that time through High School, (198?-1990) the major thing we were not allowed to wear to school was shorts of any type....
That was messed up was that as a guy I could not wear shorts, neither could girls...
I was so jealous, as I would be burning up in jeans, yet the girl sitting next to me could wear a miniskirt, that required thought and care to not let it all hang out? go figuire? :$

When I went to middle school in the sixties females could only wear skirts, no pants except for a couple of times a year when you could wear pants to school, it was called "Sadie Hawkins DAy", as if only people from the country wore pants. We sure enjoyed being more comfortable in school, if only for one day.

There was no hair allowed to go past tip of collar of shirts for boys. Girls had to kneel on the floor, and their skirts had to touch floor to be acceptable. There were other restrictions that I can't remember, but for sure things have relaxed alot since the 60's.
