Um, yeah.... any hot smoke is going to irritate your mouth after having teeth pulled. Plus, it leaves you more open to infection. You are well advised to lay off for at least a couple days.

Make brownies. That way you're not breathing in smoke and you're still getting high.

cant it cause dry sockets too? I always thought it was because of the enhaling and that because its somewhat of a sucking motion that it could kind of mess up the blood clots and cause them to well, hell...fall out is all i can think of right now.

    Man, I wouldnt smoke dude.

Fortunately, I have never had a dry socket. I heard that they hurt like hell.

well considering as how they both make smoke and the smoke they make irritates the throuat, it would seem that the one would count about as much as the other. the thing that puzzles me a bit though, is precisely why would they tell you that in the first place. i'm affraid i don't really see the connection between smoke of either kind and denatal work. then again i've never had a tooth pulled other then by nature itself. which was painful enough to damd near give me a heart attack the first time it happened 30 years ago. but i've had one tooth of one kind or another fall out every few years since then with a lot less problems. i keep em clean and ease the pain with clean warm water. they hurt a bit. then the never in them dies, and then the irritating now forign and inert bits of disintigrating hard material this leaves them as eventualy work their way out. and that's it.

of course i don't regularly smoke either substance and can't say as i ever have tobacco, so anyway, that one is a bit of a mystery to me.

nothign to do with hot smoke and irritatino, its the sucking thath does bad things. can dislodge the clot tahts formed or forming. do special brownies or pot cookies instead. and if your motuh is still bleedin gmake sure you sleep with your head elevated with a couple extra pillows.

I'd say smoke, smoke all day... infection sounds like fun and only takes like thousands of dollars and 4 years of dentist sessions to get out.

    Yummy.

It's more for dry sockets like Dustinthewind said. It's not what you smoke, it's the enhaling and suction when smoking that causes the dry sockets.

Thats why they tell you not to drink anything threw a straw until everything heals.

Well, I know for sure that eating nothing, drinking only Powerade, and smoking cigarettes after having a tooth pulled with anesthetics can make you throw up hardcore.

However, I agree with Gravity, Dustinthewind, and whoever else agreed with them. Haha. Makes sense.

I had mine pulled a few years back, and I smoked a joint on the way home from the dentist, with the cotton shit still in my mouth. The novacaine was still kickin good. Didn't hurt me. I can't remember if I smoked cigs or not, that might have been during one of my "quit smoking" periods. But the point is, the weed made it feel much better.
