You should take a road trip to Cali; you can get all you want legally.

Actually, there's not much risk involved. As long as you get a package mailed out it becomes government property until it's been delivered and signed for. The worst that could really happen is losing the bud to customs.

Well you have to get a medical card, but that's pretty easy. It's not legal federally, though, so it doesn't mean anything to the FBI, but cops can't do shit. :)

Stop by Maryland pick my ass up and I will pay you some gas money, haha. And I meant the fact of it being unsafe because it could just be a cop on the other end just waiting to book your ass.

Well, the bud here is kind of expensive. It's around $250 for an ounce. Granted, this is probably the best weed you're going to find in North America. If you bought like, a few pounds to sell off upon returning, I'm sure you could make some profit out of it. But that would be quite a job, heh.

    Heh, sorry about the hijacking.

One thing you don't want to do is take away her stash; it'll just piss her off and she'll get more. The risks involved with smoking are mostly legal; tell her not to smoke in school or where she might be caught by an authoritative figure. Also, make sure her grades don't drop. Man, I sound like a parent.

marinol is schedule III because it is standardized to a certain dosage and has proven history of safety in medical use.

cannabis varies wildly in potency, the more shortlived effect and instant gratification of smoking it lends itself far more to abuse, and the existance of many other cannabinoids than delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol in varying ratios (which can drastically alter the effects) make it for severe inconsistancy in relief from the symptoms of whatever ailment the cannabis is intended to relieve. though it has little to no documented evidence of directly causing cancer, the smoke does in fact produce carcinogenic substances the same as almost any burning plant matter, and chronic cannabis smokers do in fact often develop smokers coughs (symptomatic of health problems such as chronic bronchitis and decreased lung capacity).

cannabis is indeed pretty effective when eaten, but again due to wildly variable quality of the product and wildly variable ratios of cannabinoids, it makes for a somewhat inconsistant and unreliable medicine.

that said, i personally believe that marijuana should be legal because though it does have significant drawbacks when being considered as a medicine, and many types actually DO make better medicine than marinol (though cannabis cannot be considered superior categorically as medicine) it still is safer than excessive alcohol or tobacco consumption. it ought to be legalized for recreational use by responsible adults.

but looking at it in terms of demonstrated safety, potential for abuse, and consistancy in effect, quality, and dosage, marinol is clearly the "better" medicine from this point of view.

this is all strictly theory, though. in fact pure delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol is not the best medicine for things which cannabis is able to treat. it would be better to have a standardized mixture of cannabinoids for all around treatment. some make you sleepy, some wake you up, some make you hungry, etc. THC alone isnt very suitable, you need a mixture, but you need -the right- mixture.

therein lies the dilemna, along with the legal tradition of canabis prohibition. the original reason for banning marijuana is forgotten by many americans (it was primarily motivated by racism) but its been so many decades that essentially i belive the government doesnt want to back down after indoctrinating to many generations of children about the evils of this plant. going against their own word would be to admit ignorance and stupidity, and would likely cause a number of problems.

i dont think it has anything to do at all with taxes like many people claim, largely because the vast majority of the population is incredibly lazy. why bother to grow your own if you could buy affordable (even when taxed) joints or loose buds down at the liquor store? its like homebrewing. you're perfectly free to brew your own beer or make your own wine at home, but its costly and time consuming. its not taxed the same as storebought because the ingredients aren't alcoholic until you begin fermentation with the yeast. for the quantity and quality, we could save money and have MUCH better beer by brewing our own, yet most people prefer to just get a sixer. it would be the same with pot....you could grow your own, and escape anything but sales tax on the supplies....but it would require effort and patience, and if you just want to smoke a joint you dont need to have several ounces of homegrown on hand.

as to the question posed by the original poster, i would say that you should talk to her about it and let her make up her own mind. i wouldn't go to your parents, treat her like a child, or steal her pot. give her your point of view and advise her that regardless of what she does she must be VERY careful both in terms of personal health and legal issues. reiterate the fact that while its not as bad for your health as tobacco, and while smoking pot a lot is not as bad for your body as drinking a lot of alcohol, its still not GOOD for you and can indeed cause some damage, particularly to young people.

a good point to bring up is HOW she uses it. if she smokes mostly on weekend, just with friends, or whatever and still maintains good grades, an active social life, and hobbies or interests other than getting stoned, shes most likely fine. but its easy to abuse cannabis, and i do not think i'm alone when i say that it can cause you to miss out on a lot of important aspects of life if you let it get the better of you. through my own foolishness and indulgant behavior i have caused myself a lot of problems from smoking too much pot and using too many psychedelics from the ages of 16-19. i loved smoking pot in high school and often went to class high. i didn't learn a whole lot from my classes, to be honest. also when other kids went out and did things with friends, and particularly began to go out on dates and such, i spent a lot of my time alone or with a very limited number of people smoking pot or taking painkillers or mushrooms or whatever for a long stretch of time. i'm better off than many people i know in this regard, but it still has had a crippling effect on my social life. i dont go out much, i've grown to prefer solitude or the company of one or two friends to public places, etc. i havent been on a date in over a year, and its largely because of a lack of appropriate socialization at a younger age leading to me feeling insecure, inadequate, and generally awkward when it comes to asking a girl out.

there are a lot of positive aspects of marijuana, but there are definite drawbacks, too. do your research and draw your own conclusions and simply try to talk to her and give her advice. but don't threaten, dont try to control, and don't betray her confidence by telling her parents or any other authority figure. it's her life and you'll have to let her figure out how she should live it on her own.

I'm assuming you're the big brother? My big brother ratted me out when I was 14. My parents found his bong and he pulled the old "BUT BAILEY HAS VALIUM AND WEED AND WAY WORSE STUFF IN HER ROOM!!!" to get some of the heat off. Bad move, I lost trust in him for years.

I say if you have a problem, talk to her about, not your parents.

Why do you feel the need to meddle in her business? Unless you start to see harmful effects that you know for a fact are a direct cause of her MJ use, leave her alone.
