they're cheap to make, cheap to wear, and an incredibly simply design for a shirt. i dont have any idea if they're among the most popular articles of clothing in the world though...actually, i'd doubt that they were, except perhaps in north america and (i would guess) a bit of europe..... personally i don't like them too much. i prefer casual shirts with buttons and collars....not a fan of t-shirts or polo shirts
why are tshirts so popular? dunno... maybe because it's nicer to wear one especially in the summer months... those sweaters get toasty....
Hehehe, Boogabaah, I like the way you think. T-shirts are popular because they're cheap and comfy. I hate wearing form-fitting clothes because feeling cloth on my armpits makes me nervous.
stop shaving.. i got on a t-shirt.. and you can see my underarm hair sticking out.. sexy.. damn i need to take a shower or something
Nesta makes a good point; they're cheap. I also agree with what Cerridwen says about T-shirts and warm weather. I suspect that T-shirts are popular in places besides North America and Europe that have warmer weather more often than we do: Asia, Australia, Africa, Latin America. T-shirts come in all colors and can have all sorts of writing or graphics or none at all. Both men and women can wear T-shirts. You don't have to be in great physical condition to wear a T-shirt.
You'd be surprised to see how popular they are in Latin America I think t-shirts are popular simply because they're one of the cheapest and most practical garments available; they also provide a “blank canvas” for self-expression, which makes them even more appealing. Anyway, those are my two centavos
because humans are retarded everywhere and seem to have forgotten how useful it would be to have one or both 'nerd' pockets. of course the're cheep ways to make dumb statements and cheep advertising for companies that donate them to homeless people. of course you could, as some of us do, make wearable art out of them with a bit of immagination and a little machine washable fabric paint. tie dying and batique are other ways of using them as a creative canvas. =^^= .../\...
i don't need nerd pockets, dork. that's what my jeans are for. cheap, comfortable, INCREDIBLY VERSATILE. they fit over my tits without the buttons pulling tight or without me having to buy a veritable tent so that they fit over my tits easily but then gape over the rest of my body so that i look pregnant. i can get the form fitting style that's not too tight. i can wear them under other clothes for extra warmth. so far as i'm concerned, flip-flops, jeans and t-shirts are the most versatile and wonderful articles of clothing ever created.
the simplest solution is indeed the most elegent. (an old engineering adage, eternal true, or usualy and mostly). i just find it annoying to have to carry pens and notebooks, along with everything else, in pants pockets when it's not cold enough to wear a coat or a jacket. i do wish i could find them with both v-necks and nerd pockets on the same shirt, and in solid colors i like. yes i can more or less easily find each of these features, just not all on the same shirt. they ARE good to wear under coats and jackets to keep warm, and the lack of buttons, or other closures, and the need for them, IS the elimination of a potential failure mode. as for canvas pants, i.e. "jeans", the damd things are never comfortable until the're ready to wear out, and wear out too damd almost immediately once they are. that is to say the ones they make for the male of the species do. which is why i wear double knit synthetic bells. way more comfortable on my skin. these of course wear out eventualy too. oddly enough i've found them to be more durable and longer lasting then blue, or any other color of denum, despite the supposed reputation it is supposed to have to the contrary. though of course to each their own. by all means wear what is comfy. that is my own intent. just that for me, what actualy is, and what is ruputed to be, arn't quite one and the same. not by a loong loong looong way. =^^= .../\...
the problem with pockets on shirts is that i have massive breasts and putting anything in a pocket that sits on top of them is totally ridiculous. i tend to wear the same three pairs of jeans for years.
If I wear a t-shirt it's like one of those tiny tees, or do they call them baby tees? I don't know, but I like the more form fitting variety. I think I look absolutely horrible in bigger t-shirts.
makes sense too. what i always figgured but didn't think of to say. (well i never thought of "f" shirts actualy. e-shirts, but that would just by lying on your side or c-shirts, an open armless vest, b-shirts, a halter top lying on its side? d-shirts? but that would be a dhowti or a diaper or underware and not a shirt at all. ... ) =^^= .../\...
