I'm pretty sure I understand whats going on in this situation. But, I am also very unsure of what the hell is going on.

As I searched for food today, I noticed a box of poppy seeds. I quickly remembered the use of the poppy seeds and asked myself if it would even be possible for corporations to put such a thing on the market. So, the question is: do those big companies do something to the seeds so that I can't make drugs out of them? If they don't what kinds of things can I make out of them and how?

Most spice companies sell sterilized seeds so you can't grow them. Many also rinse the seeds so as to reduce any residue on them but even if they don't, any useful compounds are usually somewhere in the parts per millions catogory.

Ahhhhh...BULL SHIT. I have grown poppies from the ones you buy at the local supermarket numerous times. The flowers are very pale lilac with a darker purple cross in the center. They grow just fine but need to be started very eali in the spring...like about now.

Its not b/s, most poppy seeds in grocery stores are sterile, though some are not. You just got lucky.

If I just got lucky then I just got lucky about ten times in a row. I grew poppies FROM THE STORE for about ten years in a row and every time I planted them the germination was near 100%. here is the trick...gow to a major chain that has a high turn over...they will always be fresh. Let me ask you one question...how many times have YOU tried to grow them. When I talk I talk from experience.

Yres bamboos right,I think most companies don't sell thier poppy seeds sterilised Confirm, theres two things you can do with the seeds, you can grow them into poppies (not all poppy seeds are opium poppy seeds though, so theres a chance you might grow useless poppies) and then bleed the opium out of them and smoke or eat it. Or you can make an opium tea straight out of the seeds, but if you do decide to make a tea, be sure you get your dosage right, it's not too hard to OD on it if you use too many seeds or drink to much because you can't tell how much morphine is in a particular seed or a particular type of seed. So like with everything start off with a really really small dose and slowly increase the amount everytime you do it untill you get the effect you require, and stick to the same brand and type of seed as you increase your dose, different companies use different seeds grown differently so the amount of morphine varies alot between brand.

Poppy seeds do not like to grow in hot weather and the absolutely do not like to be transplanted. The only down side of store poppy seeds when grown is that they are small.

I did have trouble one time growing them but it turned out that thousands of little black ants were carrying the seeds off. I sprayed SEVEN around the perimeter of the flower bed and they grew just fine.

Just because it's a poppy seed doesn't mean it's the right kind of poppy seed. there are tons of different kinds of poppies out there that don't contain opium at all.
there's a good chance the poppy seeds you buy at the supermarket, even if they grow, will be perfectly legal, non opium poppies.
that's probably part of the reason they can sell them.

ALL poppy seeds found in supermarkets come from opium poppies, most are holland blue.
the only poppy seeds i've heard about that don't produce opium are tasmanian poppies, which are pretty rare and grown more for appearnce than seeds.

There are only TWO types of poppy that do not produce opiates, California Poppies and the Mexican Prickly Poppy. These seeds are larger than opium poppies, and the ones they sell in packets produce opiates, they are labelled decorative poppies or sum shit and their flowers are red. Usually the ones in the spice section of a store are opiate positive and still verile, I grew a big patch for my mom along with morning glories as a birthday present ^_^. The ones that i get are from safeway and are persian whites, white with purple in centre with 4 petals. I got a mindbending number of 12 pods one a plant, when extremely rare cases are 7! Also you need a large amount of poppies to produce any quantity of opium.

And a simple and amazingly tasty and potent poppy seed tea recipe is to soak the seeds with COLD water in a container for a few days until it smells like absolute death and has oil colours on the waters surface, filter out the poppy seeds in another container and in the original container add Kool Aid, the green stuff seems to null the taste best. Filter the water/kool aid with a coffee filter into your storage container and drink up. Apparently the vitamin c in the kool aid activates the opiates and kills the taste, believe me do not taste this shit, and the cold water is more effective of extracting the opiates. The seeds can be reused maximum 3 times, and u can grow em afterwards to (they may germinate in container thats why we filter)

You can also cook with an enormous amount of poppy seeds and get stoned off of that, me and my buddy made a couple batches of poppy seed chocolate, and his family ate a whole bunch and got really high lol. The resulting taste was like a nutty chocolate bar.
I also made a water extract from poppy seeds by boiling them in water for an hour or so, filtered out the seeds and continued boiling until there was a dark brown liquid left.
used a lamp and bottom of can to heat until solid, hot knives yielded only real effect but can be rolled into a ball and covered in pot to be smoked, much more relaxing and warm feeling....

    hoped this helped

Indeed. The poppy seems to be able to grow anywhere with at least a 90 day gropwing season. I first discovered this wonderful plant in a strip of dirt between a building and a sidewalk. I walked by that building everyday on my way to work so I kept my eyes on them waiting for the capsules to ripen. When they had turned brown I came by again with a little brown bag and now I am still growing poppies descended from those original seeds. That was 30 years ago.

The Tasmanian poppy may be a GMO opium poppy grown for its dried pods. I was reading that Tasmania bans the import of other opium poppy seeds probably because they don't want their poppies to be "contaminated" with opim genes. There's another opium poppy out there called "Przemko" which is low in morphine and grown for seeds.
