... that I instantly turn my nose up at people who willingly join the military? shit. frankly, I think being an iconoclastic drug addict is preferable to being a hired killer.

 

It doesn't make you a bad person, although it may make you a little close-minded. But I think we are all close minded about some things.

 

I'm the same way, I try not to judge... but it's very difficult with the army issue.

 

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I sympathize with your viewpoint as I have a hard time wanting to be near someone who wants to, or joined, the military.

 

i wouldn't say your a bad person - actually, i dont' care what you think

my friends are people who are in the military or will be as soon as they graduate in may. they're not all bad, nor do they all have the same mentality as the typical military grunt. yes, i decided not to join, after thinking about it for a long time - its not for me and i couldn't make that decision to deal with some types of people.

but ya know what...those people aren't just in the military, they're all over. so you learn to deal with it and how to mix and mingle with all sorts of people. like i said, my friends are in or going into the military, some aren't, but most are. their choice to join. not mine, nor anyone elses. they are still some of the best people i've known in my short life so far. now yes, theres plenty of assholes, i know lots of them, plenty of ignorant people too. plenty of people who just want a chance to kill. i dont' assosciate myself with those people.

 

you'd miss out on some truly wonderful people. but i'm sure you've got enough around not to miss a few.
