I would suggest purchasing Frommer's or a similar travel guide to the different countries. I had a budin the air force who was stationedin Germany. he had been there 3 years by the time i went to visit him last spring. however, I bought one of these travel guides and while i felt like the uber tourist we found some great attractions and facts that we never would have known otherwise.

Just so you know, there are forums on this site for the places you plan to visit.....in the travel section.

You can purchase psychedelics in shops in the netherlands, so you have something else to do besides/while getting high:spliff:

go to free town christiania, in Copenhagen (the capital of Denmark). its a section of Copenhagen taht hippies/artists/punks/alternative poeple took over in the 70s and claimed it their own terrirtoy and made hteir own laws, etc. etc. Weed is legal tehre. but its also just a beuatiful place, including copenhagen itself.
Berlin Germany is also amazing, im living here for a year and Ive loved it so far. the histroy shines through the city very clearly, and you can still see lasting effects of the wars and the berlin wall. theres very many beautiful parks allll over, its the greenest city Ive ever seen, and also weed is practically legal here, and easy to get in parks.
I knwo youre not just interested in gettin high, but it sounds like tahts part of what youre interested in doing.
as far as the netherldans, ive only been tehre for one day, and it was in some small town. but yeah, its cute and scenic and picturestorybookish there, not to metnion of course the legal weed and shrooms.
    have fun!

Do the couchsurfing (www.couchsurfing.com) and stay with some locals, and get a real feel for the countries.

Avoid Spain ;) All the more commercial parts are like Little Blackpool; nothing Spanish about it at all. Nasty, full of pissed up fat Brits.

Southern France is one of the most beautiful places in the world if you like to walk, photograph and explore; you will need to speak the language to see 'proper France' though, as most villagers etc won't speak English. The Rhone Alps region, especially Ardeche and Drome are nice, and towards Provence. Also, Perpignan, and a town there called Coullieur, a lovely fishing place.

Paris is very glamorous, very polluted and very expensive; it's perhaps worth seeing, but does not represent true France. If you do go there, though, you must visit the Moulin Rouge (a 3 course meal and the show is about £100 a head), and the fabulous Latin Quarter.

London is a smelly hole, but also some things worth seeing; Portobello market, Camden town is quite funky (don't ever try to buy drugs from the street, there; always a rip-off), as are the parts of Soho that remain traditionally Sohoish. Richmond Park is gorgeous, too, for a picnic, a smoke and a chill. Better places to visit in the UK would be Cambridge, the Peak District, Lake District and Scottish Highlands. Depends what you want, I suppose.

Netherlands, very similar to England in many ways. Amsterdam is stinky and polluted, a million very skilled pickpockets, beggars and junkies, and despite what you may have been told the Red Light District is one big tourist trap; overpriced, substandard weed in mostly dingy, expensive coffeeshops. The ones worth visiting are all slightly off the beaten track. Also, Anne Frank's house, various museums and galleries, and some of the best restaurants in Europe.

Rotterdam, don't bother; it all got blown to fuck in the Blitz and is now all made from concrete. Haarlem is nice, like Dam but quieter and less smelly. The villages around Dam are very pretty, with their windmills and streams.

In Dam, do all you can to blend in, and not look like a tourist; if you have to check your map, don't do it in public, or refer to a static map in the road; you will be hounded by beggars. Wear your bag where you can see it at all times. NEVER buy drugs from a street dealer (if you can, avoid even making eye contact with these scumbags); most are not even dealers, just chancers that will stick you up at HIV-infested needlepoint once they have you down an alley.

No experience of Italy, I'm afraid.

Feel free to PM me with any questions about the rest, though.

I'm sure the Salvador Dali museum in Spain would be a very memorable experience, especially if you're interested in art.
