I once smoked with some of the Jamaican mafia, seriously. In a smokey room in a building in the East Village in Manhattan. There was a ton of pot circulating, and the elder rasta just kept puffing at his eternal spliff the whole time, free-associating rhymes. One girl there said something to the effect of "I was so tired this morning, I fell asleep in science class". To which old man dreads replied with a cannabinol-space poem: "you sleep in class, you gonn' come in las'. you be down there a-sleepin', da teacher be up dere teachin'", etc. etc. His rhymes were endless, and he kept going back to "sleep in class, gonna come in last". it was great. they smoked me out till I didn't know which way was up. I offered them some of my beer, which they didn't want.
yep. I didn't know if they drank or not, but I at least felt like offering something in return. I was real nervous at first.
Rastafarians don't drink if they are really rastafarian, I think they believe alcohol is a thing of babylon.
My $0.02: alcohol is a deadly addictive drug, and the #1 choice of drug abusers in the US. Think of anyone who drinks a lot. Are there any who haven't had major problems with booze? DUI's, lost jobs, fights with friends, domestic abuse, etc. See? Do I think booze should be banned? No. But I DO believe that there should be a limit on how much of this deadly drug people can purchase/possess. Area's that do have a limit experience a much lower rate of alcoholism that area's that don't. I think beer commercials should feature people puking their guts out in an alley or the aftermath of carnage on the highway caused by a drunk driver, and a 1-800 # on the screen to AA.
