im a regular smoker and i dont really have to worry about money but id like to grow my own outdoor bud and save money for like tattoos and car parts and such. ill have no trouble getting seeds, but i wanted to ask a question, primarily of ranger danger cause he seems very experienced. remember im prepared to grow a guerrila grow as an option, but would rather not. my question is this, could i grow in a bio-dome? like a semi-large one? cause ive been looking into tecniques of growing plants in general and this looked interesting. thank you
I think I know what a bio-dome is. Like a dome camping tent but made of clear plastic right? I don't think that's a good idea. For 1 thing, that stand out like a sore thumb. You want to grow weed amixed amoung/right next to existing vegatation. Secondly, pot doesn't need it. Pot grows fine in a sunny location with amended soil. Also, for a fast-growing plant like marijuana, inside a bio-dome would restrict CO2, and create a humid environment. Even in a back yard a dome would attract attention. You could have some plants growing along a wall mostly unnoticed by a phone repairman, neighbor, etc. but a dome someone would definately notice.
thanks thats really helpful, well my property is like 10 acres so i have alot of space to grow, and hide a plant, next would it be a good idea to grow next to water? because a river runs next to my property and i was wondering if that would speed the growth
Not next to water for 2 good reasons. -Water attracts animals of both the 2 and 4-legged kind. -Marijuana grows best if the roots dry out slightly between waterings. Near water yes, since often you need to bring water to them. Next to water no.
cool, ok final question i think. im growing outdoors and near water so im worried about insects. i dont want bugs eating all my weed, but i dont wanna smoke me some pesticides. is there a non-toxic type of thing that i can use to keep away the pests of the multiple leg variety? if not, is there a pesticide that i can use that will come off if i water cure it. actually what tecnique do you prefer for curing? thanks for your help so far
You're gonna want to start your plants soon. I'm in RI too and popped some beans about a week and 1/2 ago.
There are many safe insecticides. Look for a kind that's made for vegtables that says "safe to use until day of harvest". And NEVER use insecticides when the plants are in flowering, which will start in mid-late Aug. Even if the insecticides are non-toxic to humans, they will make pot taste terrible and your buds will have dead insects & their eggs that you'll end up smoking. It's still too early to plant even if the temps are warm. MJ life cycles are determined by daylight lengths, not temps. The days aren't long enough yet to provide good growth. Wait until AT LEAST the spring equinox (Mar 21 this year). You don't want to plant until the last danger of frost has passed. If you don't know when that is, ask a local nursery or older neighbor. In many locales, 4/20 is a great date to start. I prefer jar curing.
