Not Scorsese's best film ever, but it was definitely the best Hollywood had to offer in 2006, and it deserved the Oscar. It was great to see Marty finally get his for his incredible body of work.
It was pretty good but my expectations were set too high, I guess. I thought it could've been tightened up a bit, it was too long despite the fast pace it kept up with.
excellent movie best mob flick since the 90's i still cant believe that was scorcesies(sp?) first oscer! great end! love the plot expesially. and i even love that they both had sex with the same phyciatrist. love the put the picture up on the wall part. im a romantic at heart. even though i hate hollywood endings i do love romance. great movie
It was a good flick, But the Editing and the whole Flow of the plot was kind of Crappy and choppy, sure it makes ya think harder about what happens but that aint nescessarily a good thing i mean it has to be more coherent than it was for it to be a great movie, Scorcesse's older flicks had great pacing, editing and cohersion the departed failed somewhat in that respect Otherwise great movie
I seen this in theaters. It was amazing. I haven't seen a movie this good in a long time and I'm not really into these type of movies. It was great though.
I loved The Departed as well I would definitely put it in Scorsese's top five films, probably not number one (hard to beat Taxi Driver), but way up there. Of course it deserved the oscar, but I don't think Scorsese really gave a crap about the oscar, and rightfully so... look at how many awful movies have won and how many great ones have been snubbed... the Oscars get it right occasionally, but often they're a joke.

Best movie of 2006. Great acting, great plot, great sets, great dialogue, etc. Everything was just great. I was very pleased. Scorsese is wonderful.
Dead Man's Chest, to me, was best of 2006, but The Departed was a fantastic movie. Great ending that I never saw coming. Matt Damon's character was fantastic really. "Fire fighters are some fuckin' homos. Look at 'em. Getting pussy for the first time in the history of fire, or pussy". Love that one.
jack nicholson as the don? honestly you can't do any better than that. i thought it was a great flick. great plot, originality is a plus. seeing mark e. mark pop the last slug at the end was key. my favorite scorsese film is still goodfellas.
