Anyone planning on going to the soltice in either avebury or stonehenge ?

now I sort of prefer avebury in that its more quiet and there are less annoying drunk people and police wanting to arrest you for having a candle or whatever.

I dont think I went to either last year but feel I really should, the bluebell woods near avebury are a wonderful sight to see , and stonehenge itself if you avoid the annoying people is really lovely .

anyway what are peoples thoughts of a gathering in one of these places this year

    Lol it ain't until June...

Avebury is wicked, but I love the atmosphere of the people that you get at Stone Henge. Plus, it's slightly closer to home :p

yah i go to stonehendge almost every year as i live in nearby salisbury, will probably go this year...

The atmosphere is usually excellent, you get loads of people from all over the country coming, lots of fire poi and some laser lights i think one year, drums, guitars, flutes, general hippie-ness.

I think it was 2003 I managed to score liberty caps, a botte of liquid LSD, ecstasy, regretamine and some mindblowingly good skunk within about an hour lol so if that's your thing then no trouble getting pretty much anything...yeah the sky was fucking mad when the sun started to rise and the mist came over the plains lol

You get a mad mix of people, I was hanging out with squatters who came down from london most the time, you get anarchists, druids, and people out to just party and enjoy the vibe (and get mashed along the way). Great stuff.

Only thing last time the police were over the top with security, they wouldnt let people take backpacks in and you had to leave it in a cloakroom nearby. No bottles or anything either, they were taking some peoples guitars off them too. If you want to bring alcohol bring those large cardboard cartons of red wine and some plastic cups lol
Hopefully though enough people made a fuss last time and the police will chill out a bit this year...

Avebury is okay, but it doesnt compare to stonehendge. Stonehendge has some magic atmosphere about it, especially when the weather is decent.
