OK, it's 2007. We haven't stopped poverty. We haven't cured AIDS. We haven't solved homelessness. We wrongfully invaded TWO nations, mostly levelled them. We can't care for our own wounded soldiers in Iraq OR the US. The entire world is pissed off at the USA. And now this:

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070302/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/new_warheads;_ylt=Aiz8Lg9k94GWHiddwvIClP6WwvIE

    This begs the following questions:

Do we really need "new" nuclear warhead designs?
How much did we pay Lawrence Livermore to develop something we don't need and congress will hopefully refuse to fund?
How many dollars were slipped under the table?

We already know who won't be going to jail for something that should be viewed as wasteful and scandalous...

    Excuse me while I puke.

Everything that happens is intended that way. Nothing is by chance. Why would "we" want to cure AIDS when "we" created AIDS in the first place? I know, I know, I am being too conspiratorial. I should just ignore all the evidence and only believe what is politically correct. I should only believe what CNN says.

I think I will ditch being a "conspiracy theorist" and be a coincidence theorist instead, thinking the things that happen in the world just happen by chance alone.

Seriously now... Do you really believe the people at the top want an orderly society where the majority of people thrive and prosper? Do you really think they want to end homelessness, let alone give a shit about homeless people? Do you really think they give a shit about the soldiers they see as nothing more than expendable cannon fodder?

No, they care about nothing more than pushing their agenda ahead and keeping humanity enslaved. That is all they care about. They don't care about you or me, and they certainly don't care about the people starving in Africa.

I am not trying to be a dick, but this should all be quite obvious to people who are relatively awake. People need to stop believing the system is going to make this world better when the system has always thrived keeping people down and dependent on that very system for their survival.

And we have the nerve to threaten Iran. I wonder what part of the President's budget that falls under and for how many billion?

Gardner - how many hundreds of billions of dollars, I am sure.

One thing to hope for is internal conflict at the top. Elites competing for more power with each other. As an elite, you have a lot of power, but share it too, power corrupts, why not go for some more? Take out a few others? There may be a few at the top who THINK they are acting in humanities interest, than again, there are evil twits who could care less.

There is true info being leaked to some, look at my other thread, masonry, where I give a possibilty, its all about being cocky and still evading, its more of a thrill. the mental games of a petty thief is no different than that of an elite banker or mega billionaire oil family. time for people to step up and catch them in their own traps.

But the sad fact is we are spending trillions on this war, but we are short changing the very veterans that are fighting it, while the military industrial complex and their investors buy homes in the tropics. The money being spent by the citizens isn't going to the troops, it's going the the independent contractors like Becktel and Haliburton, and towards the development of new nuclear arms.

The average citizen won't allow a new nuclear power plant in their back yard, even though it would provide cheap energy, but they are forking over trillions for new bombs and poor cafeteria food.

While the soldiers fighting this war are coming home to substandard care, and denial of benefits. Nothing has changed. The brass aren't supporting the troops they are supporting each other.

No one knows. Even the government has admitted the pentagon and defense budget can not be audited. Sad statement isn't it when they are spending our money. I think it's funny that our Defense department is housed in building designed on a satanic symbol...but I digress.

Well I am hoping before congress approves any budget they look at the line items to see exactly where the money is going. If they don't they have failed once again. And I will vote accordingly. That's the only power I have except for trying to spread the truth on the internet.

A hello to Capitan1962, welcome to Hip Forums.

We have a few Bush supporters that just troll to support their ill formed ideology, but in a way they help us spread the good word/work. Pepik, and WackyIraqi are two that come to mind.

I think we need to start spreading the word beyond just hipforums. there are many places with thousands of people who believe what is told to them.

the web is both a godsend and a cursing. we can spread the word, but other blind folks are also spreading the word too. we need to beat em' to it. lets go to popular forums and give folks the truth no?

Well come to hip forums Captain, there is a critical aspect of attempting to effect change upon any phenomenon, i.e. we have first, to the best of our abilities, "accurately" identified the nature, and the operational characteristics of that, which we wish to change. The distribution of the level of cognitive abilities in the general population of the former U.S.A. is nearly certainly,* not different than it was 40, 80, or 160 years ago**. What I am convinced of however is that the level of "social consciousness" in the individual, and as a result the level of social conscience in the population is accelerating to extinction. Should this trend be allowed to continue, the human "race", is doomed to extinction , and most likely within the next 10 generations. The general population's non-reaction to the press release that is the topic of this thread, is perhaps evidence that social conscience has already passed the extinction threshold. If I believed in such entities, at this point I would make the appeal, "May god have mercy upon our souls", for to me, to be aware that humankind is in danger of vanishing from the universe and to do nothing, would constitute grevous sin.

    Asteroidal notes
*In general, when presenting the premises for the argument of any position I take, on any issue, I will make use of qualifiers such as "nearly certain" to make known what level of "authority of information" I personally have determined that the information of the premise has. This, thusfar informal, arbitrary, and nonstandardized "Authority of Information (AoI) scale ranges from "I believe"=0 to "I am fully convinced"=10 This is due to my personal commitment to, what I consider to be part of, what I believe to be the "hip" ethic, i.e. "Question Authority."

**I am very much afraid, that this assertion may no longer be valid, as there may be what I'd consider to be meta-magical schema in place to effect the "dumbing down" of the masses. However, if such schema have come into existance, although their effectiveness , would increase nonlinearly, would not as yet have significantly impacted the populations average level of cognitive abilities.
