I've been able to successfully have a lucid dream only a handful of times over the past year. It's something I've been working on (keeping a dream journal, reading about remembering your dreams from several different sources, etc.) and I'm getting a little discouraged. When I was younger my dreams seemed so much more vivid, and I could remember them easier. Since keeping a journal, I've had more dreams that I can remember the next day...but I'm struggling hardcore with lucid dreaming. When I actually do have one, I can keep it going and bring in people that I want to. I can fly and all that other fun stuff too. =) I'd love to be able to control my setting, maybe finally get to swim underwater with the ocean animals. Anyone have advice on lucid dreaming, and also, how ofter do you lucid dream?
I would love to have lucid dreams... it's the closest anyone can get to being able to do ANYTHING!!!! But alas, I find it hard to remember my dreams (for all I know, I could be lucid every night, but no remember it )
I have "heard" DXM can be used for that, but not sure, I was never able to really sleep with DXM since everytime I closed my eyes I saw weird neon green balls flying everywhere, try doing a search on google. I have seen alot about this just can't place it.
OK, I've never heard of that before, but I done a search and found this site: http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/dxm/ - now I'm not a fan of drugs in the first place (illegal or otherwise), so I don't know if I'll try it... But it's useful to know. Thank you.
Have you ever tried the Castaneda techinque?? My version of is was that I used to draw a small letter D on my hand. Whenever I noticed throughout the day I'd ask myself if I'm dreaming. Sounds stupid I know but if you do it often enough, you'll be sleeping sometime, see your hand, ask yourself if you're sleeping and you'll realise you are. It really worked for me. But you have to keep it up. I definitely recommend his books (Carlos Castaneda).
Sounds like a great idea, but only any good if you can remember your dreams. I can't (or very very rarely at least).
I'm not 100% sure what you mean, but at I guess I think you're talking about forcing myself to wake up just after the dream has finished... just as Im coming out of REM sleep (ah ha, you see, I know my stuff If that is the case, how would you suggest I do it? if it's not, what is it?
Why not just get really drunk and high, and goto sleep? lol worth a try. I always have the strangest dreams when items like those are involved.
Actually I find that when I smoke before I go to sleep, even 3 hours before, I dont remember my dreams as much as if i'm straight.
okay let me rephrase that: is there a way to control when you hit rem and when you wake up like you said? i'm kinda confusing myself,... :&
I suppose you could set an alarm clock but you'd have to know exactly when you would be in REM. And what if you wake up at a really good part of the dream? That would suck.
I'm another one who has known about lucid dreaming for a lonnnng time. I have always, always remembered lots of my dreams in really vivid detail, but very rarely ever have my dreams go lucid. I have had a total of TWO very short lucid dreams. I knew they were lucid because I was there, having just realized I was dreaming, and I was singing out loud to myself, all excited, "I'm having a lucid dreeeeam! I'm having a lucid dreeeeam!" But then the flying part got messed up because I flew into some powerlines and started to fizzle and that woke me up. It's VERY FRUSTRATING to want to have lucid dreams, and to read about how it comes so easily to apparently so many people here. I've had lots of vivid dreams all week long and every time I woke up, whether I went back to sleep for a while or got up to start the day, I kept realizing that there was SO much unrealistic about them that should have made me realize I was dreaming! But I'm trying to maintain my patience, and be optimistic. I have this weird, deep-down good feeling that it will happen for me eventually, and then become a regular thing. I have all my life to try, anyway. Blue skies, -Jeffrey
I have dreams all the time, vivid ones that often are reallllly cool when I remember them later on. Sometimes, I know I just had the dream, continue to sleep, wake up not remembering it at all, and then during the day something triggers the memory and I get the whole thing back in a flood! It's kinda cool. Other times, I remember them right upon waking. What do you mean that you can fly and bring people in, but can't change the setting? I just thought that if you were lucid, period, you could change all of that stuff. It's just a matter of concentration, I would think. Blue skies, -Jeffrey
I used to get lucids pretty often not anymmore tho. i barely ever remember my dreams, and prolly more than half of the dreams that i remember having are lucid. actually i barely remember any that arent lucid. but most of my lucid dreams when i try to remember them, i get everyhting mixed up and start making it up and then realsie im making it up. i usually wake up and think 'ahh shit! oh dammit what was i jsut doing?' like ill rmember i was ahivng a lucid but not remember waht was in it cept the mood or emotion. anyway whenever im in them, i never think im dreaming, i think its real. often i get into a tight spot and have a small adventure trying to fix the mess ive gotten myself into. the adventure always goes awry and through a room of heaps of ppl who i know. I tried dxm for the first time last nihgt. i got 2nd plateau off 300mg. im pretty sure i had a big dream last night but remember nothing of it. Anyway my lucids often include super powers, flying, sex (which is odd and often different caus im a virgin lol), taking drugs (weed almsot always) or jsut being a normal person but getting into lots of wierd situatinos. id love getting recuring dreams, like i had one where id be able to move objects with my mind. i had so much fun lol. it took a bit to work out how to use my superpowers but once i learnt i was doin it all the time for a period! i jsut let them come. i get them more often than most it seems from this forum's comments
