How do y'all feel about this?

Maybe as a wannabe writer I'm obsessed with semantics, but I can't help but wonder about it. I understand that gay people use the words, but I don't think I've ever heard a heterosexual use them in relation themselves.

Does anyone here use these words, and if so, is there a reason?

There's one big one I can think of, but I'll let y'all talk first.

I've heard straight people use it before. I've not actually dated a girl, so it's always been "boyfriend"..well, those two times lol. But when I was mucking around, as in she's-straight-but-we're-all-really-hyper, with some of my friends, it was girl friend, but that doesn't count lol

Maybe I have a cushy lifestyle, but I can't imagine saying anything other than boyfriend.

I say boyfriend. I would have to be with them for a while before I used the term partner.

I hear many straight people use the term.
