Just wondering... Most of the stuff is obviously bullshittery. And why can't christians actually wrap their heads around a scientific solution? Such as when I would talk about the beginning of man, I would talk about evolution from monkeys. Not some crap about a guy in the sky creating everything perfectly in sync. Doesn't happen.
Is the Bible a science book? No. Does it claim to be a science book? No. Do some christians pretend it is a science book? Yes, but they are mistaken. Just so you know, evolution doesn't say we came from monkeys. It says we are direct discendants from an ape-like primate. Ape's are much different than monkeys; while both primates, monkeys are smaller and have tails, amongst other differences. And previous to the evolution of humans, the theory basically says that life originated from a "biological soup" that unexplainably formed some time after the earth was formed. Just thought you should know a little more about the theory that you believe in. Even if you believe in evolution, it doesn't really offer concrete evidence on how the earth went from "no life" to "life". Even if the first living thing was, say, an amoeba, and we all evolved from that....how did the amoeba get there? The creation story in the bible wasn't put in there as scientific fact; rather, it was made to show that god was responsible for creating life, and that humans have an express purpose in this life. Science explains HOW. Religion explains WHY. Some people enjoy studying both. Perhaps you should stop worrying so much about what other people do with their lives.
christianity is more than believing the bible. god has changed my life in a way i never thought possible. he has picked me up and flipped me around. thats y i believe what god says in the bible. also ..... everything has a creator... ur shirt.. ur furniture everything and so does the world. thats God.
You know most Christians believe in science in what it can answer too, you don't have to believe in everything in the bible to still believe the main points, and I think above all the bible is a book of not just beliefs, but more importantly of morals, you know one constant theme that comes up in the bible is to go out and seek wisdom and knowledge in your life, it's not a "believe all this or go to hell" book that many people think it is. Find a bible and read the book of Sirach, it is full of good life lessons. And I add this which I think is a great passage: Sincerity and Justice Use your time well; guard yourself from evil, and bring upon yourself no shame. There is a sense of shame laden with guilt, and a shame that merits honor and respect. Show no favoritism to your own discredit; let no one intimindate you to your own downfall. Refrain not from speaking at the proper time, and hide not away your wisdom. For it is through speech that wisdom becomes known, and knowledge through the tongue's rejoinder. Never gainsay the truth, and struggle not against the rushing stream. Be not ashamed to acknowledge your guilt, but of your ignorance rather be ashamed. Do not abase yourself before an impious man, nor refuse to do so before rulers Even in death fight for the truth, and the Lord and your God will battle for you. Be not surly in your speech, nor lazy in your deeds. Be not a lion at home, nor sly and suspicious at work. Let not your hand be open to recieve and clenched when it is time to give.
What the hell? Just because you don't believe in the Bible or Christianity doesn't give you the right to insult them. Retard.
and there is such a thing as combining the theory of creationism with the theory of evolution... just thought i'd throw that out there...
dued...u cant just pick wut u want to believe out of the bible.... thats like making up ur own religion...its like saying sure i believe god sent his son to die for me but not that he made the world or i'll love my nieghbor but i dont want to respect my parents.... thats just stupid!!!
Dude, what you said is just plain retarded, I can believe in God and Jesus without having to believe we all came from Adam and Eve or that the whole world was flooded in Noah's flood.
dude god dosent fucking control what you do, life is not a video game with god at the controller. People change there own lives, not some mystical man in the sky. i have found most people jst use "god" as somthing to latch on to, to lead them out of confusion or depression. Although some of the stories and ideas are good in the bible 85% of them are shit this is a result of scriptures being wrote down over a period of thousands of years. Personaly I think religion is an unethical way of thinking, it ultimetly causes hate and war.
did anyone say that god controls what you do? didn't think so... i think someone said god changed their life and that's ALOT different than god controlling what you do. i believe in god and no, i don't feel controlled at all. i don't go to church or read the bible often, but i still believe in god. and yeah, most of the stories in the bible are allegories.. alot, or even most, christians don't believe that there actually was an adam and eve, noah's ark, etc. they are just stories about morality.. you can think what you want about religion... but don't diss the people who have faith and believe in god. they aren't doing you any harm... and yes religion has caused many wars/problems.. but that doesn't mean that individuals who happen to believe in god are hateful, warring people. seriously.. don't group all christians together... not all of us are like that..
its weird how people will say life cant form naturally on its own, but a god can. the natural world cant always be but a supernatural world can.
lol. Come to something beyond current understanding and the explanation is always it's "supernatural" or it's a fuckin miracle. How convenient. It must be nice have the mysteries of the universe wrapped up in a little box with a pretty bow, that way you don't really have to learn anything.
No shit, nice job of putting it how it is. and what makes you think that life isnt supernatural and beyond any kind of comprehension why does it have to be god?
God is the ultimate reality, everything learned in science is just an attempt to better understand and control our own reality. And life is beyond comprehension, serriously the one question everyone always has in mind is what the meaning of life is. And Posthumous, you're clueless, no one is trying to say whenever anything can't be explained it's God or a miracle or something, the argument was on how God could always exist, and to believe in god is in general to believe that god is a force or being that has always been there, it can't be explained, if it could, it wouldn't even be religion, it'd be science.
Why the planets moved independent of the stars was not known until the 15th Century, and how procreation occurs was not known until DNA's mechanism was discovered in 20th Century. Until then, these mysteries were explained away as miracles of a supreme being, yet science is whittling away at the rest, but creationists aren't helping to elucidate them one bit - quite the opposite. Clueless are people like you who believe any load of shit just because it is a convenient answer, and just because you don't understand something, doesn't mean your fairytales verifying the existence of a fictional entity invented a long time ago in order to regulate primal urges have any merit whatsoever.
I never said life can't form naturally on it's own, I'm just saying if it did we would never know. Because of the nature of scientific experimentation, to prove it, you would first have to show exactly how atmospheric conditions were at that time, what temperature it was, what sorts of compounds and elements where around, etc. and then you'd have to RECREATE all that and wait for life to "just happen..." and even if it did just happen, you still would have to account for the fact that life does now exist, whereas it didn't at all at some point, so maybe that had something to do with the results. Does the fact that we can't prove it mean that the bible is definately true? No, but I personally enjoy it, mainly because of personal experiences I've had, and I do believe in most of it (although certainly not blindly..I've had my doubts). So, if you chose to believe in something else, then believe in something else. There's no need for redicule or blame on either side here.
The Bible tells us that man will always be learning but few men will come to the knowledge of the truth. And if you considered the prophecies of the bible perhaps you would learn something to. But for you to do that it would require reading and study. So it's easier for you just to call it all fairytales and never consider the written Word.
Like all great stories, the Bible's most deeply understandable meaning is all about human nature and the divine ideal. In at least one very real sense, it doesn't matter at all if Moses and the prophets made it all up, or if Jesus was just a man who played a role, the inspiration is far more than just what you (or I) think it is. Whether you believe it or not, everyone returns to some story that meaningfully expresses their ideals and beliefs. Sometimes the story is told in some subtle way that doesn't immediately announce itself as meaningful. Your story may be a movie, a book, or possibly even a T.V. show, a song or a comic book. Ultimately, the forms used in the telling of the story are not as vitally important as the meaning and inspiration of the story. What does that mean? Well, It is just as absurd to argue for or against the existence of Jeff Lebowski, Hawkeye Pierce, Luke Skywalker or William Shakespeare as it is to argue for or against the existence of Abraham, Moses, Jesus or Krishna. It is just as absurd to argue for or against the historical accuracy of the War of Middle Earth, the life and death of Vito Corleone, or Woodstock as it is to argue for or against the historical accuracy of the Exodus, the Battle of Kurukshetra, or the Nativity. It is just as absurd to argue for or against the scientific validity of lightsabers, stillsuits, Ice-9, or evolution as it is to argue for or against the scientific validity of Noah's Flood, the Ten Plagues of Pharoah, the Miracles of Jesus, the Resurrection, Buddha's confrontation with Maya, or Krishna's revelation to Arjuna. All that really matters is light that goes on in your head when you get the meaning and inspiration of the story. If you are not getting to the meaning and inspiration of whatever story you are reading, then you may as well argue about hairstyles or word counts or shininess or the proper use of Klingon verb forms . . . or nothing.
