What would happen if a blind person dropped acid

im sure they would feel amazing and would see some crazy shapes colors. But if they are blind and never saw any colors... and dont know waht anything looks like... then maybe the acid would create wild things in their minds.

 

What about an autistic person? One of those crazy math geniuses?

if it's the eyes that are the problem, the person would see the patterns, and have the trip - b/c it produces closed eye visuals. But if it's the seeing perception part of the brain thats damaged, taking acid would be a very bad idea for such a person

I've always loved the synesthesia sensations and it's interesting to see its possible use beyond what I'm abled to do currently.

Heh, just a random note: My GF finally (after I dosed her with 5 little droplets - she's very resisitant due to meds) had strong synesthesia experiences for the first time. Her being one of those artistic types; enjoyed it a lot.

 

Well i think that unless we naturally have a concept of what it is like to see that is already built into or genetics then i see no way that that could be possible. I've always wondered this, and wondered if there would be a way to test it experimentally on a person who has never seen before. I'm sure the only varification needed would be seeing the neurons in the visual cortex to light up. But i doubt they would see anything since they have never experenced vision before.

If you're right, then we would never see naturally because we don't already have a concept of seeing. Just because you don't have a concept of what it's like to see doesn't mean you won't see something.

About your first statement - it would seem that we do indeed have built into our genetic code all of the function of seeing. I fail to see how this would have any sort of impact on whether or not a blind person would "see" any sort of images if they were to take psychedelics. I've always imagined that they would see some off the wall shit, because they aren't bound by anything.

Or, if they didn't see anything, other sensations would be amplified, as their other senses already would be from not having to process sight.

 

Well like i say i'm not sure, but it's interesting. It would make sence that you wouldn't see anything with your eyes obviously yes. I think it's possible that a blind persons hearing can be so good that it's almost like they are seeing, also sense of touch. I like that movie with val kilmor(sp) where he grew up his whole life without vision, and then a doctor fixed his eyes later on in life. If you haven't seen the movie you should. It will make you think more about how we see.

they would experience the trip inside their heads.
when you trip on, or at least when i do, i can close my eyes
and still see what i am veiwing with my eyes open and no interruptions at that!
so, they would trip, too, just like the rest of us.

 

then they would be classified as schizophrenics.
and they would never lead a normal visual life.
everything would always be distorted.
and they'd be locked in lockdown at a psych ward with a thorazine drip.
so... leave the blind alone, at least they get disablity support
for being some sort of sensory disabled.

 

Anyone ever tripped and put earplugs in while they were trippin? I did one time, there weren't like audio hallucinations that were real tight, but silence "sounded" different. It definitely changed the direction of my trip though, shifted to more mental, introspective stuff.

It would be really cool to meet someone who is in some way sensory-disabled that wanted to trip, that would be an interesting experience for all involved.

 

Blind people live in a monochromatic world right? Never see color? if they were dosed i bet all senses other than vision would mush together more intensely. Theyd get fuckin spun.. it wouldnt be pretty.

 

Yeah they have receptors in their brains just like us seeing people do, it would be the transparent florescent hues and shit we never normally see until that door of perception has been unlocked. hmmm... ramblez
