Not for all people to hear. I know woman can be crude and lewd but they tend to keep it to themselves, which was what I said.

    Yes, you are actually right.

It is kind of homophobic/stereotypical to even compare them to women, Mellow, and also homophobic to even assume that they are any different to other people.

I blame it on the society. He even mentioned that people don't know what to do in that kind of situation; and him being from Sunderland, I doubt he has many contact with Gay people himself. Also, the fact taht he's a Christian, practicing or not, there's probably some kind of conservative opinions subconsciously lurking there. We can't blame him for that though.

However, I honestly don't think he meant it to be homophobic, or offensive, Sam. Then again, I can't really speak on behalf of Gay people, and say what many would probably find homophobic, due to the fact that I'm not Gay.

What do you mean backtacking about devil's advocate? You are the one who has decided that I'm a homophobic, gay hating bigot because I asked whether this was right or not; and you decided that it was ok and I shouldn't complain about it.

How would you feel if the group you were in was talking about sex in such an open and obnoxious manner?

i didn't say it was ok, its inappropiate for that group of people to do that, but for you to suggest only gay men do it is outragous.
if we had all said 'here here gay people are always doing that' you would never have said you where playing devils advocate

I think there is an element of implicit homophobia to it. So implicit that I doubt many people would even consider it homophobia. It's similar to the Daily Mail readers who'll complain about immigrants and asylum seekers without ever realising that what they're saying is actually racist. I don't doubt Mellow has gay friends, I don't doubt he never meant to cause offence, and I don't doubt that he doesn't see what he said as homophobic. However, because it's so subtle, it does need addressing. These are the sorts of little everyday prejudices that slip under the radar. And because people don't talk about them, nothing changes. So I think it's good we're having this discussion, it's an important one, and I hope we can all learn something from it....

I didn't say it was only gay people who talk like that. I used the language in earlier posts and I'm sure it has offended, point made. It happened to be about a punch of gay lads talking about their sex life, and on LA I'm not narrowminded about the world and because I may have a traditional view and a conservative approach doesn't make me intolerable.. It was a topic of conversation that did take me by surprise as talking about SPIT ROASTING woman offends; does it not?!!!

well i've no doubt that it offends you, but it may not offend everyone, some women may get turned on by it and some men do to.
if you read most of the threads in this sub forum you'll find far more extreem conversations than that.
you seem to think that just because you hold the view that soemthings offensive that everyone else will do to, or at least should do.

    OK I apologise LA.

Samhain, I know that there are threads in the forums that are far more explicit which is ok, judging by the reaction you also find the langauge I've used a slap in the face. I am far more openmind than you are giving me credit for, I could have chosen to be a little more balanced in the orginal thread but it seems to have done the trick.

Could it have been that these lads wanted us to hear there conversation? That's a different story.

You need to think about what has been started without attacking me straight away, and where the hypocrisy is coming from. Could a little sensitivity be shown to us and why have I been slated for even daring to mention the unmentionable. Offending people, what in raising a discussion point?

just connected with this I go to a mixed health spar, where sexual behavour is banned, I.E kissing hugging discussing sexual exploits in communal areas.
my experince is that some straight couples will come in (notice I say some) and will break all the rules, practiculay have intercourse in the sauna and as soon as they see a hint of anything same sex going on will make a complaint.
I'm sure most of these people would never consider themselves as being homophobic, but the thing is they wouldn't make a complaint about straight people because in their minds, straight peoples sexuality is not abnormal

I haven't attacked you, i haven't sworn at you, I have said you have some 'homophobic traits' and that your view on this subject is outragous, sorry to disapoint, but you did say you wanted a reaction and not everyone is going to agree with you when you post a subject on the internet

What do you mean by dragged across the coals and shot? By whom?

Personally, I've only heard straight guys talk disgusting and sexual in public...I've had yelled crude things at me from a car driving by...but that doesn't mean that *only* straight guys would do that sport of thing.

These guys probably realised they were sitting near some homophobes and thought they'd have a little fun with your head. Because of course you have to act like you need to pour bleach in your ears to try and erase the images, or else you're gay  Plenty of women take it up the ass and suck and wank...but if a guy does it, you're horrified.
