Anybody see this movie yet? I went and saw it today and WOWWY! It's so sad seeing these adults basically brainwashing, for a lack of a better word, children. Even though we both, myself and evangelicals, consider ourselves Christians, it's really hard to even compare any of my beliefs with theirs. Some people's ideologies really baffle me.... But anywho, it was defintely an interesting movie.
i saw the trailor but i really want to rent it when i can fir i am far from civilization right now... Alabama
Netflix has it. I was tempted but then I was afraid I would throw my TV out the window after watching it! LOL
They talked about it on good morning america and it was crazy .... they showed clips of the kids actually crying. it was soo scary how obsessed they were. it looks very interesting though
i saw this, its really insane to see how nutty people can get over jesus, also the alternate pledges of allegiance were really scary. theyre slowly merging church and state together and its just going to get bigger. did anyone else get a bit of a jim jones feel from that fat woman?
Though I haven't actually seen the film yet, I have heard about it from a couple different sources. One of these sources (and the first one) was my home ec teacher who happens to be a pentacostle of the highest degree. She said it was awful, saying its all part of the prophecy of the rapture and that the only reason they teach homosexuality is wrong and abortion is wrong etc... is because they're trying to teach their kids how to live good, moral lives. That particular talk with her was so frustrating because she has her mind made up and will never change... its scary.
It's a little crazy. The thing that bothers me the most is how young the children are. While in high school i attended a weekend retreat that is somewhat simular. But it didn't feel like the same brainwash. Although thoes who had gone and didnt go back would say that it was brain wash. I think at the age of being a teenager you can control more what you choose to belive or not. Its much easier to take the mind of a child. During adoration they walk around with the monstrance(holy body) and theres incense and music. People are singing, crying, I would like to think that during my experirences that it was a true feeling of the presence of Jesus. During the weekend there is a chance for teens to stand up and take a vow to follow Jesus. Love and Peace
The is a rumor that Jesus Camp has inspired a remake or something like that. I am working for a movie ezine. Jesus Camp is bieng remade into a Comedy/Satire/Thriller. I guess the success of religious themed films has made Hollywood think the have found a subgenre. The movie is based on a book called Jesus Camp Mysteries. I read the novel it does seem like it was written for the screen. However its more on the satirical side. But it had me laughing out load. It seems Billy Bod Thornton is attached to play the the preacher in the book. It a good bit of casting. I was really into Dogma and the movie Saved. So, Im looking forward to this one. Does any one know if Jesus Camp And Jesus Camp Mysteries are related or has anyone read the book?
i haven't seen it but i want to SO BAD! the trailer totally reminds me of this one camp i went to when i was 12 years old- it scared the shit out of me. instead of wanting to join the Christian cause.. it kind of turned me off. anyway... i really want to see this movie!!!!!!!
I watched it on youtube actually, in 7 segments. I'm not sure if it's still there or not. Those kids lived a life of 100% BRAINWASH.
superb documentary, extremely disturbing content. jesus camp is child abuse. that horrid woman who runs the thing needs to be locked up. fortunately enough people were outraged by the film and the camp is no longer run (the owners of the camp won't let them use it anymore). our species is doomed if we can't do something about this war on knowledge. these fundamentalist lunatics are intent on taking us back to the dark ages and keeping us there. jesus camp made me angry. watching these people who know NOTHING claiming to have 'the truth' made my blood boil. films like this really make me wonder about our species, and what we are going to do about these deluded maniacs. their doctrine of unquestioning obedience is dangerous to everybody. ok, i'm done here.
It is certainly scary. But the evangelicals have had a couple of major blows. Tim Jones, has admitted him and Ted Haggard took drugs and had sex. Ouch, quite the blow to Christian morals. But, I think even more importantly, their church has become split over the environment. Half say the earth is a gift from God that can be pillaged and raped, while the other half say it is a gift that God entrusted us to take care of. So they are no longer uniform, and are breaking themselves apart. Thank “God” I wasn’t raised in any particular denomination or religion.
