i almost had a fully vegan day but i ruined it with a piece of mozz cheese. thats the only thing i think i would have a problem with. i love cheese and i heard some not so good things about vegan cheese. i had these really good blueberry waffles [vegan] this morning with some strawberries and rasberries on the side. it was so good!

got any ideas for some good vegan cheese?

oh and i also havent had milk or milk products in one week and three days.

    except the cheese.

I don't know of a GOOD substitute, although plenty of folks here know of adequate subs!

What were the not so good things you heard about vegan cheese?

why base your feelings towards vegan cheese solely on things you've heard about it? that's a bit closed-minded, isn't it? you ought to at least give it a try.

vegan cheese can be very expensive especially if you're not used to buying high quality deli cheeses. Some are okay, i've found but none truly compare to real cheese. I know exactly how you can get yourself off cheese though.....

melt a huge ass chunk of it...i'm talking like 500g... and eat it ALL in one sitting. Make sure it's a gross kind too...like a No Name brand, Low Fat, Medium Cheddar. You'll never want to touch cheese again. One day you'll think you could handle it again....but then when you open your mouth for it again, you'll remember how gross that half pound was and you'll say "wo-fuck that"

    good luck! :)

haha^ i heard that the cheeses dont taste very good and are pretty hard to melt. i can give up mostly any cheese except mozz! but i will try. i think foods with less preservatives in them are so much better but is going vegan a better alternative for that? dont some vegan foods have preservaties in them as well as other non-vegan foods?

You can eat healthy or unhealthy with any diet. You can certainly eat an unhealthy vegan diet. You just have to read labels, or ideally use only fresh ingredients and make your own meals, breads, salsas, etc. I try to avoid processed foods as much as possible.

its been hard for me recently because when ever my family goes the grocery store, we only go once every two weeks so i cant buy fruits to last that long i bought strawberries, rasberries, a couple nana's and some apples and they are all gone. i cut them up for my breakfast and made a pb and j for lunch wioth some other fruits and veggies but i can only take my lunch for the begining of the week. our schools lunch program doesnt do anything for vegetarians. i spoke with the princapal and he said it wouldnt work out.

    um...
really not trying to start anything.... but if there is one constant aside from certain death throughout the human race it is that we all lie. why listen to what anybody says, even if they are people you're close to (i'm assuming that not all of your friends are vegans, veroness, and that you probably heard most you know about vegan cheese over the internet. where do you think people lie the most? )
i for one have yet to find a bland or nasty type of vegan cheese.... but i live in wisconsin, so i absolutely must prefer tha real shtuff

good to know. ill give vegan cheese a shot some time in the near future. i want to wait untill after my birthday this year. i want to have an ice cream cake for my birthday because ill be turning 18 and i havent had an ice cream cake for the longest time. my grandpa was the last person that bought me one when i turned 10 but since my birthday is in july, it melted really fast so now ive figured out the perfect timing to eat it...AS SOON AS IT GETS ON YOUR PLATE! lol

so probably after my birthday ill start picking up the habits of a vegan life style. i kinda think the whole vegetarian thing is a nice transitions from eating meat to eating nothing from animals. i was talking to this girl at work the opther day and she read something that said a vegetarian really ends up being about people not caring about how the animals are treated. its more of a diet than a life style change, but i dont agree. ill make the leap just when im ready to though.
