what if all of existance is just one big trip? everything seems so normal, but when you REALLY look at it, everything is a psychedelic explosion, complete with repeating patterns and profound shifting of relevance (i.e earth could get vaporized by a meteorite and the last 50 thousand some years of human activity might as well have never happened).. and so i've been thinking about this for a while, only my problem is, is that now that everything that once was normal everyday stuff (trees that used to be just trees are now a universe of depth and detail) is turning into just another part of the massively complex psychedelic pattern that i am experiencing, i start to wonder if everyone is just a reflection of myself or something... maybe sally was right and i actually am all alone =(
It is interesting to note that notable mind trippers have predicted many things about reality proven in science that wasn't known by the user. Christopher Mayhew for example found out while tripping that there is no absolute space and no absolute time, it is simply what we impose on the outside world. This of course is true according to the two main theories of our universe: General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics. The absolute view of time and space are misconceptions of a result of scattered waves of probability, influenced by the observer believe it or not (so yes....we do control reality to certain extent with our minds!). Both Christopher Mayhew and Aldous Huxley found that there are other worlds and realities beyond our perception. And guess what.......M theory predicts that there are other universes very close to us (closer to our bodies than our clothes are) but we can never perceive them. I wonder whether psychedelics and meditative states which unblock filters actually show these other universes. Is life one big trip? Yes, this argument can definitley be made. Sure our minds are almost completely the result of the physical brain.....but neuroscience still cannot explain conscious self awareness. How come firm identities and egos are formed within one body when there is supposedly other consciousness? How relevent are other consciousness? And with science proving and already uncertain world, who says this world isn't as bizarre as the world of the psychedelics? Who says this world isn't a trip through linear space and time, like psychedelics could be a trip through non-linear inter-dimensional space and time? Are you all alone? Is everyone a reflection of yourself? Of course not......because it is I who is the only one that is alone . Reality is a reflection of me, not you. Oh wait........how can I prove this? Moreover how can you prove anyone besides yourself is truly conscious? If they were truly conscious shouldn't you share your consciousness with them? If not, you can never experiance another person's conscious through your senses. Perhaps there is a physical reality of the multiverse (all possible universes and realities) that your mind jumps into after each life. For example, perhaps your mind inhabits your body in this life.....but it could easily manifest in the body of your best friend or your dog in your next life. Or some being from a far off universe. So perhaps there is one universal consciousness that inhabits different bodies in different lives. It proves the validity of the "Do unto others as you would want others to do unto you" because the same person you maybe hurting or helping maybe you in another life.
just like to point out though that if earth got vapourized by a meteor, that doesnt mean that the last 50 thousand years of human activity might have well never happened, thats like saying if someone died they might have well never happened. but yeah shit is very insane we are always tripping, triping kind of just shows you you were always tripping, and perspective is tripping really.
I hate to be a party pooper, Silverbackman, but there is no way in hell that when you take psychedelics you visit/experience/see a parallel universe. I don't think it really matters what you get in the next life, because without your memory, whoever is in the next life/place simply isn't you. I love the question of how can you tell if other people exist. That's called solipsism... it's an interesting concept, many philosophers have attempted to dis/prove it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solipsism It's a very existentialist concept... you must remember though, just because life does not come with meaning and essential purpose (think of that meteor) doesn't mean that life can't have meaning at all. In fact, I look upon it as a good thing. Instead of having meaning and purpose forced upon us, we can find our own meaning and purpose in life, because there isn't an essential purpose/path for us in nature.
well im not gonna kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.. even if the happiness generated from the gold eggs is only a figment of an imagination anyway =PPPPP
how can you back that up? i'm just curious. because i've had the same thought about psychedelics and M theory. if everything is just atoms without any meaning except what we as a universal consciousness give them, then it makes sense that those atoms could take seperate forms and identities. and since the universe is infinite, there is no actual space or time, just the perception of space and time. so if the perception of all the atoms changes, then it is a different dimension, right? do you remember everything about yourself when you were first born? do you remember everything about yourself and your life from when you were five years old? we adjust to the bodies we're in, whether it's from a five year old human body to a thirty year old human body or a seventy year old body to a dog's body. but we're still ourselves. i remember when i was a tiny little kid, maybe four or five, i went through a period of solipsism. i tried to explain it to my parents. i stood in front of them and closed my eyes and said "now you don't exist anymore". that's interesting. and life IS a fucking TRIP. shit's amazing.
