Because they're made to make your mouth water. And they're laced with crack. Opal Fruits? Damn, that takes me back. Why did they start calling them Starbursts? You know, now I think about it, it's like a sign. My mum and nan always had odd names for sweets. Sweets were spice, sherbert was kali (kay-lie), liquorice was spanish, stuff like that...that's what it was all called "back in the day". I guess Opal Fruits to Starburst was just the beginning of "refer to sweets by their original names if you're becoming an old bastard" train for me.
dunno, they should change em back..look what happened to Coco Pops when they tried changing the name to Choco Krispies...nobody wanted them!
I can only remember a few of the name changes Marathon became Snickers Opal fruits became Starburst Why did they change them though? Can you remember them changing Jif cleaner to Cif because people in other country's couldnt say Jif it sounded like Cif
There's actually a Snickers Marathon bar out now. It's kind of like an energy bar, under the Snickers name. Damn, I remember those old adverts..."Snickers - the new name for Marathon!"
i dont remember the snickers marathon changeover, maybe coz i dont like snickers though mmmm opal fruits
I'm sure I remember snickers being Marathons, but it wasn't for very long. What about Oil of Ulay...to Oil of olay and then just lazy OLAY
Jif has always been Cif on the continent, well for years and years anyway, it was when I lived in France in the early 90s... I have no idea why they felt the need to suddenly change it to Cif in the UK. It's never quite tasted the same on my pancakes since then either:uhoh2:
Snickers were always Snickers here. same with Starburst. kinda funny, they americanized the names for you guys, cause they KNOW how much you love all things american.
FUCKIN BRING BACK THE OPAL FRUITS NOW! I stopped eating them when they changed the name , but I have been known to buy joosters instead
I like those sweet sours pastilles by Haribo. They are addictive. Starburst are so addictive but I rarely get a strawberry
Haribo is made in my hometown. We even have a Haribo shop next to the factory with cheap stuff You know those big bags of sweets you can get? 60p each You can even buy the big tubs they have in shops. I took one to BD when I went in...um...2005?
you remember Mars bars KC? They still have Mars bars over here ... but get this, they are the American Milky Way. How weird is that? Dunno why there aren't Mars bars in the States but they changed the name to export the Milky Way.
