I’m planning on redecorating my room to be more representative of me.
I’m just wondering if any of you have ideas on beautifying my bedroom. Anything at all!
I’m not sure if this is helpful in your ideas, but I love anything beautiful, intricate, flowery, funky/edgy, oriental, things that are nice to touch/smell etc.

I want to change it into somewhere that makes me and my visitors feel relaxed and comfortable.

If you have any ideas, I’d love some help! Thankyou!!

well, it would depend on the size of the room. if its big enough, you could add chairs and such. but if its a cracker box palace like mine, bean bags or floor pillows would be the way to go. Also, if you have a small room, what i did was i got rid of my dresser and bought plastic drawers from the dollar store to put in the closet. (if you do that, make sure you put something scented like fabric softener sheets because your clothes will stink of plastic if you dont) and i have a full sized bed, since i cant fit in chairs pple just sit on that. hope i helped a little!

Agreed, it would depend on the size of space you're working with.

If you want to repaint, warm colours (red/orange/yellow/light purple) tend to be more inviting and good for a smaller space, cooler colours are ideal for a smaller space. If you've room for a two-seater couch or a table with chairs, it may help. If not, or even if so, pillows around the room for folks to lean or sit on are always a cozy accessory.

A vase of flowers ~ real or artificial ~ are a good accent. Candles, like a small feng-shui-esque set up (3 pillar candles, 3 different heights) in the corner of a room always look pretty and inviting, and a mellow scent (ie citrus, vanilla, or lavender) is always relaxing and inviting.

A good plant will help too. I like philodendrons because of the beautiful tendrils and they don't die! Seriously, my mom has had one for 20+ years and almost killed it a million times, but just trim back the dead, water like hell and poof! And they require little light. If you take good care, they will grow amazingly, and the tendrils can be draped all around. Plus, they are good air purifiers...

a bedroom needs two things; a bed and a desk for the computer. filling the rest of the space with a model railroad, one with lots of green scenery and miniature trees, even models of japanese gardens, would be ok too.

oh and lots and lots of open shelves to store and sort everything onto. drawer furnature is crap. too much weight and the bottem falls out. and filling them with printed material is like filling them with anvils and almost guaranteed to do so. mirrors are space wasters too. of space that would be better utilized by more shelving. although they do 'make the room look larger'. maybe put one on the cealing over the bed. there it would be out of the way and possibly interesting. IF you could be really sure it would never fall down and bean you and maybe cut you up.

as for wall treatments, obviously something relaxing. and one person's relaxing isn't neccessarily another's. me personaly, i like either panneling, and or usgs contour maps. contiguous ones. lined up perfectly with each other, the ones that go next to each other. another good possibility for something novel and cool, would be to run the same carpet tiles or carpeting on the floor, up one wall and accross the cealing.

another possibility for walls and cealing is to make them look like you're inside of some geological cross section, like inside of some sort of a cave or mine.

these latter two or three possibilities would work for any and every room other then kitchen and bath.

of course the best addornment for man made objects is idealness of form, and the most ideal form for rooms and houses is oddshaped. which generaly requires something like ferrocement and probably won't be allowed to be built in most parts of the u.s. without the sighnoff of a structural engineer.

i understand the excuses for building codes, but they still suck.
