I will be purchasing some psilocybin spores soon to grow my own psilocybin mushrooms. At first I was going to cultivate indoors but then I realized, why bother growing inside? It isn't like the DEA helicopters even look for mushrooms, they look only for cannabis plants! I do have a large continer to grow mushrooms, but I'm worried whether I'll run out of space. Where as there is a lot of room outside. What do you think? Do you grow your mushrooms indoor or outdoor? Why? I have a 18.5 by 33.5 inch perfect container for my mushrooms if I grew indoors. Is this enough for later generations? OR should I just grow them outside in my backyard?
indoors is optimal for year round growth. whats the weather and humidity like where you live? either way, i recommend you at least incubate your shrooms inside till the mycelium has completely colonized your substrate before casing it outside. otherwise, don't expect much... what tek are you using?
I live in Northern California (bay area)......so weather is Mediterraneanish climate. Humidity right now is 43%, but it varies. My tank is a huge storage container. However it has pretty clear see through sides and bottom so light can get in for later stages. BTW, is there any online site that will ship to California? Many sites don't ship to California because of laws. However there is no risk shipping to California really, no one really checks mushroom spores (so I assume some sites do). Also, how many spores are in one syringe? How many spore syringes should I get?
its a bit to early for shrooms in nor cal. temp and humidity are too low. why outside anyway? whats wrong with indoors? shroom growth doesn't take up mush room at all, barely require any light, and grow very well indoors. i don't know of any vendors that will ship to Cali there are many thousands of spores per syringe. usually a syringe will contain about 10cc of sterile water and spores. use about 1cc per jar/bag. the amount of syringes you get depends on how much substrate you want to inoculate. what are you using as a substrate? what kind of containers are you using(jar/bag/etc.)?
indoors is much better, you can control everything you need indoors. Outdoors brings the risk of intruders, pests, and other bacteria that can easily infect your "cakes" if that is what you are using. Not to mention, people can find them outdoors and say. "Hey, mushrooms". Indoors is the way to go, you can even do a pretty successful grow in a small closest. Shrooms are easy to do, you just gotta make sure everything is sterlized before you start.
^^^agreed! the only people i know that take there grows outside have been growing shrooms for years and are very knowledgeable.
Yea....I was just worried about not having enough room. But that shouldn't be a problem I guess since it will anyways take a while to fill up my giant container! I did find one vendor that ships to california (based in UK), while I have an answer pending at sporesyringe.com One spore syringe usually contains hundreds of spores eh? So one syringe will be enough if I want to grow a lot or a moderete amount, right? And when they are adults they will produce hundreds of spores of their own, correct? And I can leave these new spores in the container and they will grow around, correct? I'm thinking of buying 12 jars with substrate that are already pre-sterilized from here; http://sporestore.com/product.php?xProd=49&xSec=3 Think that is a good idea? And when the mycelium has grown in the jar do I put all the substrate which the mycelium has colonized in the tank? If I do this would I have to get extra substrate for the tank?
