    tiarnia, i read the article and it was his cultural observation about the popularity of flip flops. jim hanas is an op-ed columnist not to be taken seriously. i even visited his web page and his myspace. do not be hurt by his ramblings. it is his bull shit opinion. keep those feet bare.

    hell, other than the boots i wear for work, i'm always barefoot. my concession to the shod population are flip flops. as a barefooter, you are more careful where you walk than a shod individual. flips are no protection to the feet, because you are more prone to slip on a wet surface in a commercial establishment. however, you will only be allowed in wearing shoes i.e. flips, makes no sense. it is a prejudice expressed by the shod population.

    Heh, the author would last about 3 minutes here; flip flops are just about universal. I actually find his views so extreme as to be humorous.
